Simple mod manager
🎮 Function introduction
This is a simple and practical mod management tool specifically designed to help players easily switch between online and offline modes of Red Dead Redemption 2. By moving the module files, you can not only enjoy the game fun brought by the module, but also play online games safely.
⚙️ How it works
How this tool works is very simple and intuitive:
- **Offline Mode**: Automatically copies all files and folders in the mod folder to the RDR2 game directory
- **Online Mode**: Move all mod files back to the mod folder to keep the game directory clean
📁 File description
The program contains three core files:
**list.txt**
Contains a list of original game files and folders. When choosing to remove a mod, the program will delete everything except the files listed in list.txt
**locations.txt**
Path location where mod folders and game folders are stored
**rdr2mod.exe**
Main program file written in RUST
💡 *IMPORTANT: The three files must be in the same folder to work properly*
🚀 How to use
Very simple to use:
- Open the locations.txt file and set your module folder and game folder paths.
- Run the module manager and follow the prompts.
⚠️ Notes
- If new original files are added after the game is updated, you need to press 3 keys to generate a new list.txt file
- Otherwise the manager will mistake the newly added raw files as mods
- For example, if an update introduces FSR and Nvidia Reflex functions and adds original files, list.txt needs to be updated.
🛠️ Solution to permission problem
If the program is not working properly, there may be a problem with the game folder permissions:
- Try running the program in administrator mode
- Or modify the game folder permissions so that it can be accessed without administrator permissions
- Not only does this allow the program to run properly, some mods (such as Rampage) also require write permissions to work properly.
🌟 This tool works perfectly on my computer, and while I haven’t tested it on other computers yet, it’s designed to be simple and reliable and should help everyone manage their mods better!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
