Short barrel no longer reduces accuracy
🎯 Features
This mod brings a simple balance adjustment to Red Dead Redemption 2: the short barrel option for **all** pistols and shotguns (including the LeMat and M1899) now provides the exact same accuracy bonus as the long barrel!
🔧 Technical improvements
- **Modern Architecture**: Use the latest LML installation method (install.xml) to ensure compatibility
- **Full Coverage**: not only modified the basic weapon files, but also specially processed the independent configuration files of LeMat and M1899
- **Extended Support**: Now fully supported for naval revolvers and elephant guns
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE
**Weapon status bar display will not change** - The status bar will still show a visual difference when selecting a long or short barrel, but this is just a visual effect!
As confirmed by senior creator IMaVeRicK, the status bar is for visual reference only and does not reflect the actual attributes of the weapon. Mod functionality is fully functional.
📊 Value adjustment
In the original game, the long barrel only provided a tiny 10% accuracy bonus (from 1.000000 to 1.100000). This mod allows the short barrel to obtain the same accuracy value of 1.100000, eliminating this slight difference.
💡 Usage suggestions
Now you can safely choose a shorter barrel, maintaining the compact appearance of your weapon without sacrificing any accuracy performance! Especially suitable for players who feel that the long barrel sticking out of the holster is too unnatural.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
