Simple Realistic Reshade for RDR2 (Vulkan Edition)
🎨 **A simple Reshade preset and shader pack designed for the Vulkan version of Red Dead Redemption! **
This preset will allow your game graphics to **go beyond the visual effects** of the "Ultra High" preset, even with **low-medium quality settings** selected in-game! It doesn't use heavy or complex shaders (such as ambient occlusion, HDR, ambient light, etc.); just simple shaders for **realistic simulation**!
✨ Feature Highlights
- **Extreme Simulation**: Designed to simulate visual effects beyond the game's native "ultra" settings.
- **Lightweight and efficient**: No heavy post-processing effects are used, which has less impact on performance.
- **Vulkan Exclusive**: Specifically built for the RDR2 version using the Vulkan graphics API.
- **Easy to switch**: Built-in shortcut keys to facilitate real-time comparison and switch effects.
⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION
**DO NOT** use this mod while playing online!
- Support **Vulkan API**, based on the new version of Reshade 4.5.1 (Special thanks to **Crosire** and **Thalixte**!)
- There is no 3D stereo mode in this version of Vulkan.
- For the **DirectX 12 API** version or the lite version, please check out the author's previous page:
📥 How to install (please read carefully!)
- **Preparation**: Make sure RDR2 is running using the Vulkan API. Also, make sure you are not running RDR2, Rockstar Launcher, or Rockstar Social with administrator privileges.

- **Install Reshade**: From the Reshade official website (**Reshade 4.5.1** (or newer version).
- **Key step**: In the welcome window of the Reshade installer, **do not select any game**, just click **"Enable/disable Reshade Vulkan global settings (affects all Vulkan games)"**.
- **Enable global settings**: Check **"Enable Reshade Vulkan global settings (affects all Vulkan games)"** (This is very important, otherwise RDR2 may not run through the launcher).
- **Installation Complete**: After enabling Reshade Vulkan global settings, click the **X** icon in the upper right corner to close the Reshade installer.
- **Show system folder**: Open Windows File Explorer, enter "Folder Options", select **"Show hidden files, folders, and drives"** to display the system folder (**C:\ProgramData**).
- **Place module files**: Unzip the downloaded "Simple Realistic" compressed package to the folder: **C:\ProgramData\ReShade**, as shown in the figure below:

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
