Expand the already great atmosphere of the game by adding a variety of NPCs, props and vehicles!

The ambient world of #Rededrunk

🎯 Module introduction

This mod is currently in **BETA**.

One thing that's always bothered me about Red Dead Redemption 2 is the limited interaction between NPCs and certain locations, like shops. Have you ever noticed that you're always the only one when shopping in town? The original idea for this mod was to give NPCs access to shops and other indoor areas that would normally be restricted, but it quickly evolved into much richer functionality.

🌟 Main functions

  • **Added environmental NPCs**: More than 200 environmental NPCs have been added, which are perfectly integrated with the original NPCs of the game, adding more vitality to the world (you will not encounter all NPCs at once, because they appear randomly)
  • **NPC Indoor Access**: Allows NPCs to enter stores and other indoor areas
  • **ENVIRONMENT DETAIL ENHANCEMENT**: Add new props, debris and vehicles to make the environment feel more realistic
  • **NPC and Vehicle Diversity**: Increase the diversity of NPCs and vehicles so you won’t see duplicate NPCs even if the population increases
  • **Town Expansion**: There are currently campsites scattered around Valentine as these new NPCs need a place to live
  • **Environmental Events**: Add environmental events to increase immersion

❓ FAQ

**What advantages does this mod have over other population mods? **

This is not just a population mod. You can still use it with other population mods, but there's no guarantee there won't be any issues. Similar to how Rockstar places NPCs, I manually added NPCs with custom schedules, interactions, variations, and paths to minimize conflict, and added randomization to ensure they fit naturally into the world. Unlike other mods that just increase the number of NPCs, this mod keeps most of the roads in their original state and the wilderness remains desolate!

**Compatible with other mods? **

Most likely compatible. This mod was developed from scratch and does not touch any core game files. I don't see compatibility issues with other mods, but since we're in beta, if you encounter any incompatibility issues, please let me know!

🔮 Future Plans

I plan to expand this mod to other locations if there is enough interest. I'm also working on some additional features, but I'm keeping the details withheld until I've determined the technical feasibility.

💬 Feedback and Support

Since this mod is still in beta, feedback is very valuable. If you encounter any problems or have suggestions, please let me know! I wanted it to feel truly immersive. If you like this mod and would like to see it expanded to more locations, please consider giving it a like!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
