〈Historical Journey〉

Did you know that the Springfield (Springfield) rifle was still popular in the 1890s? But it's barely represented well in the game. This mod fixes this historical inconsistency. Now the Springfield Rifle would be used by hunters, some bandits, and rural lawmen, not just Lemoyne Marauders.

Do you know what the most popular police pistol was in the late 19th century? Merwin & Hulbert Revolver! It looks similar to the short-barreled Schofield from the game. It is used by the Louisiana State Police (ingame Lemoyne). Later, in the early 20th century, police firearms were standardized and the gun began to be used. It is named a double-action revolver in the game. It is now at the Blackwater Township Police Department.

The U.S. military of that period used the bolt-action Krag and the double-action Colt revolver. Now it is in the hands of soldiers in the army.

Spanish troops used bolt-action rifles and Orbea revolvers (replicas of the S&W). It is now in the hands of Guarma soldiers.

〈Law Enforcement Officer〉

Shotguns are more frequently used by police officers and criminals.

Urban police use long weapons less often (Saint Denis, Blackwater).

Wagon guards use shotguns more frequently (which is very historically accurate).

Ordinary law enforcement officers can carry carbine rifles, Lancaster rifles, Springfield rifles, revolvers, and double-barreled shotguns.

Legal professionals (such as bailiffs and Pinkerton police officers) carry pump- and lever-action shotguns, revolvers, repeating rifles, and unlocked sniper rifles.

St. Denis Police Short: Schofield. Long: carbine\Lancaster gun, double-barreled shotgun.

Blackwater Police Short: Double Action, M1899. Length: Brown-bodied Lancaster, shotgun.

U.S. Army soldiers carry bolt-action rifles and double-action revolvers.

Guarma soldiers carry bolt-action rifles; brown cowboy revolvers or short black Schofields as pistols.

Guards (Cornwall, trains, banks) often carry a black cowboy revolver as a sidearm.

It is highly unlikely that the Annesburg guards carried custom-made Lancasters or repeating shotguns in poor condition, Litchfield; black cowboy revolvers or short black Schofields.

Individual legal leaders carry some unusual weapons. Sheriff Tumbleweed carries a Bass Reeves style cowboy revolver.

〈Gang Loading〉

Lemoyne Raider: Uses rifles and repeaters. They don't use dual-wielding actions (not their style), preferring custom-made vintage Cowboy Revolvers and Schofields. There can also be civil war knives, and there is a small chance of sabers (broken swords).

The O'Drisco Gang: and some other criminals carry repeaters or double-barreled shotguns; black or brown cowboy revolvers or sometimes sawn-off shotguns as handguns.

Brontë Gang: Used Cowboy Revolver, Double Action, M1899 - all blued steel and pearl grips; Lancaster with blue frame.

Del Lobo Gang: Use all repeating rifles, bolt-action rifles; cowboy revolvers\double-action revolvers\Mauser pistols\volcano pistols.

Laramie Gang: Used steel Lancasters, bolt-action rifles, shotguns; pistols and revolvers.

Skinners: Prefer rifles (depending on their equipment) and sometimes use repeaters; revolvers or sawn-off shotguns.

Grace and Braithwaite: carried Lancasters and double-barreled shotguns; revolvers.

Javier: Bolt-action rifles are now used in addition to revolvers. Why?

  • Because it seems odd that he would only use a revolver in a mission t …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
