Realistic Combat Overhaul

🎯 **Brand new from the modders of "All Shots Bleed"! ** This mod is designed to inject unprecedented realism into the combat system of "Red Dead Redemption 2", bringing a more tense and deadly gunfight experience.

✨ Core features and options

The mod provides **5 different preset files** for you to choose from to suit different game styles and difficulty preferences:

  • **Reduce bullet impact** - so that enemies will not be easily knocked away.
  • **Reduced bullet impact + enemies will not get up immediately** - Combined with more realistic physical reactions.
  • **Standard bullet impact + enemies will not get up immediately** - Balances impact and realism.
  • **100% Bleeding Chance** - **Every shot** will cause the enemy to bleed! (Hardcore experience)
  • **75% Bleed Chance** - "Mild Bleed" version, retaining randomness.
💡 **NOTE**: All files include the **"Belly Shot"** special effect except for the pure bleed option.

🤔 A note on “Belt Shot”

Why specifically add the effect of being shot in the abdomen? Because in reality, being shot in the abdomen (injuring the intestines) is very different from injuries elsewhere:

  • **The body will collapse instantly**: This is unimaginable severe pain. The gut has even been called the “second brain.”
  • **Extremely High Fatal Risk**: Back in the Pioneer West, a shot in the abdomen would either kill you instantly or later from a severe infection (open wound + leakage of intestinal contents = worst possible infection).
  • **Multi-Organ Injury**: The bullet is very likely to hit other vital organs at the same time.

This mechanic is designed to simulate this brutal reality.

⚙️ Installation and Compatibility

  • **Required Tools**: Requires **LML (Lenny's Mod Loader)** to run.
  • **Strongly recommended combination**: This module is fully compatible with **Ped Damage Overhaul (NPC damage overhaul)**! The author strongly recommends using both mods simultaneously to get the full gaming experience it was designed for.
  • **Details**: NPCs will not bleed to death due to being shot in the arm or leg, and **headshots will still result in instant death**.

📝 Updates and clarifications (edited in 2025)

⏳ Please note that this is a 3 year old mod and may not work perfectly when combined with other mods.
But the good news is that it's essentially a simple file modification, and many players have commented that it **still works perfectly** today!

So, give it a try yourself and see if you like it. If it doesn't feel right, you can always find a more suitable mod on this site. 😉

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
