RDRII - CLEAN LIGHT
Red Dead Redemption is an amazing game with one of the best graphics I've ever seen, it's good enough on its own but it can be made even better with this mod.
This mod makes significant changes when needed and barely any tweaks when no fixes are needed.
I'm still in the early stages of the game and this mod may evolve over time. In the future I might even start making weather mods to change some aspects that can't be adjusted with ReShade alone.
✨ Main features
**RDRII - CLEAN LIGHT** is a custom shader I made for myself, using homemade code as a "mini ENB", for specific variations:
- **Clearer Tone Mapping** (LOG De-Tone + John Hable Algorithm) - Lossless contrast, no black crushing, no overexposed whites
- **Reduce color casts and vignetting effects**
- **Balances color and dynamically removes muddy shadows** - Intense and clean colors, but not oversaturated or disruptive to harmony
- **Improved lighting effects** - More detailed shadows, enhanced foreground textures, color and detail scattering in the background
- **Reworked sky, fog and foreground** - A more natural terrain/sky ratio, enhancing the sense of vast space and immersion
- **SSGI Technology** - Screen space global illumination and image-based lighting to add more detail to close lighting and blend shadows
- **Day and night settings switching** - Switchable with a simple keystroke, including Purkinje offset and shadow effects for low light conditions

❓ FAQ
**Q: How is the performance? **
A: This depends on your system configuration, resolution and game options. On my I5-13600k, 32Gb-DDR5 6000Mhz and 4070Ti configuration, I lose about 5-7 FPS at full HD at 1440p resolution.
**Q: How to get better performance without losing too much visual effect? **
A: Press the END key to open the interface, expand the ENVIRONMENT tab and uncheck SCREEN SPACE GLOBAL ILLUMINATION. If that's not enough, expand the LENS tab and uncheck ENABLE LENS.
**Q: Strange stripes sometimes appear on characters’ hair and horses**
A: This is an artifact of the SSGI shader and there is no perfect solution yet. You can disable SSGI as described above, or just ignore it like I did.
**Q: There are black spots on the game menu and map, and sometimes scenery or characters can be seen o …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
