Ped Damage Overhaul Reloaded
🎯Mod Overview
This is a continuation of the original Ped Damage Overhaul mod, developed by HJ and fitfondue, who gave me permission to continue improving the mod. This version retains the functionality of the original while introducing important bug fixes and additional features.
**IMPORTANT NOTE:** Press F10 during the game to open the new mod menu, no hotkeys are required.
Highly recommended for use with the A.R.E.P Euphoria mod and Improvements In Blood, A.R.E.P produces the best ragdoll effects combined with the PDO remake. C.E.R.R is also a good choice.

⚔️Original features
This mod enhances the gunplay experience, making it more diverse, dynamic and engaging. NPC reactions are more realistic: they will stumble when running when their legs are injured, gasp when shot, writhe in pain when fatally injured, moan in a pool of blood until they die, and stagger away holding their wounds after being hit.
Nearly all features are customizable via ini files, allowing you to enable, disable or adjust settings to create your ideal gaming experience. The module specifically modifies the behavior and attributes of human NPCs and does not affect animals and other elements.
- **Dynamic Part Reaction**: Shots in the legs cause stumbles when moving, shots in the hands disarm, shots in the torso cause them to stagger
- **Near Death System**: NPCs will collapse and enter different dying stages when their health is below the critical value.
- **Bleeding Mechanism**: NPC loses health over time after fatal injury, random bleeding duration increases variability
- **Fire effect enhancement**: The burning time of NPC is extended after being ignited, and there is a small chance of survival (but seriously weakened)
- **Knockdown System**: After being hit, the NPC will randomly fall to the ground based on its health, allowing the player to temporarily "stun" the opponent.
- **Balance Adjustments**: Rebalance NPC health and player damage, eliminate "bullet sponge" enemies

🆕 New features in the remastered version
🔊 Enhanced death sound effects
NPCs no longer reuse two or three pain sound effects from the original version. PDO Remastered adds hundreds of imported audio cues, from screams and groans to grunts and death gasps, to make combat feel even more brutal and immersive.
💀 Improved death mechanism
Dying NPCs will now react to gunfire instead of remaining still. They will flinch from the impact, and some NPCs in the final stage may twitch, spasm, and cough up blood, simulating nervous system failure, and their movements slow down as death approaches, adding to the realism of death.
🔥 Brand new flame logic
The flame system was rebuilt from the ground up. Burning enemies may flee in panic, spreading fire to nearby targets if approached too close, and new screaming audio cues enhance immersion. The results vary: some collapse and then rise again, stagger dazed, occasionally still burning. If a body is close to a fire source, it can continue to burn even after death.
🎯 Dynamic headshot system
Headshots now provide a more visceral result depending on the weapon used, with additional particle effects added. Some enemies may survive the initial headshot, stagger or collapse before succumb into a dramatically extended death sequence. Follow-up shots trigger enhanced blood effects that now persist even after death. Fully customizable settings let you tweak the experience, including Dead Eye bonuses for these new headshot kills.
🏳️ Dynamic disarming and surrendering system
Disarming an NPC now leads to different results based on their personality. The brave may fight back, while the cowardly may flee, all supported b …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
