Native Land ReShade quality preset
🌄 **A new visual experience that showcases the natural beauty of the Wild West and North America! ** I spent a long time looking for an image style that suited me and finally created this preset. This is the first version where I struggled to find a balance between brightness and saturation. The night will not be too dark, and the light during the day will be more natural, striving to restore the true style of the North American continent.
**Note:** This preset has only been tested in Red Dead Redemption 2 Online.
✨ Core Features
- **Natural Light and Shadows:** Pure light, cool shadows, and carefully tuned color balance bring the game world to life.
- **Dual Depth of Field:** Includes distant depth of field and cinematic depth of field effects to add a cinematic feel to your screenshots and gaming experience.
- **Autumn version:** An additional version full of autumn atmosphere is provided to feel the different seasonal colors.
- **Performance Friendly:** Although a lot of special effects are used, there is no performance loss in my case. However, low-configuration computers may need to be tested and adjusted by themselves.
💡 **Tip:** If you feel the snow is too bright, you can adjust the settings according to your preference. The preset should be compatible with most ReShade versions.
🎮 My settings reference
In order to achieve the screenshot effect, I used the following configuration:
- ReShade 5.4.1
- In-game TAA set to high
- Enable FXAA
- Disable SMAA
- In-game TAA sharpening quality is about 20-30%
- VESTIGIA visual effects module (not used in the screenshots, but the matching effect is great)
⌨️ Shortcut key description
(If it does not work, please check whether the NumLock key is turned on)
- `/` — Opens the ReShade menu.
- `9` or `PgUp` — toggle all effects on and off.
- `8` — Toggle distant field depth.
- `4` — Toggle cinematic depth of field.
- `1` or `End` — Toggle border effect.
You can change these shortcuts in the Effects tab of ReShade settings.
⚠️ **Important:** The depth of field effect may not always take effect in online games. This is ReShade's anti-cheating protection mechanism. If your screen is completely blurry, check the Add-ons tab in the ReShade menu. If you see a prompt like "High network activity detected. Depth buffer access has been disabled to prevent exploitation", it means Depth of Field is currently disabled. It may resume later and shut down periodically. Additionally, the depth of field effect is not compatible with SMAA anti-aliasing enabled in-game.
📥 Installation Guide
**Fresh installation of ReShade:**
- Download ReShade from the ReShade official website.
- Run the downloaded .exe file.
- Select `RDR2.exe` in the game list or browse to it manually.
- Select a rendering API: DirectX 10/11/12 or Vulkan depending on your needs.
- Install all shaders in the ReShade list.
- Select the `Native Land` preset file as your main preset.
- Place the provided `CAS.fx` file into the `gamedir/reshade-shaders/Shaders` folder to make sure you have the effect.
- Run the game. The top of the screen should show ReShade loading information and a management button (default is the `Home` key, in this case the `/` of the keypad). You can change the keys in ReShade settings.
💭 **Post-Installation Tips:** If everything goes according to the above steps and you see the ReShade settings interface, but the screen becomes blurry - don't worry! This is simply because the preset is in effect and depth of field is turned on by default. Open the ReShade settings and uncheck the depth of field effect (it's mainly used for screenshots).
**Existing ReShade users:**

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
