Less Money - Economic System Reworked
💰 Module function
This mod completely changes the economy system of Red Dead Redemption 2! As an outlaw, you're supposed to rob and kill to eke out a living, but the original game's story missions netted you more money than you could spend.
Every time you earn money, a portion of it is deducted. The more you earn, the higher the deduction percentage! In this way, the benefits of high-paying story missions have been significantly reduced, while open-world activities such as train robberies, bounty hunts, and stagecoach robberies, as well as low-paying missions, have remained basically unchanged.
🎯 Revenue comparison (using default configuration)
- 20$ → 18$
- 50$ → 42$
- 100$ → 80$
- 300$ → 190$
- 520$ → 260$
- 2750$ → 412.50$
🔧 Technical details
The mod affects all ways to earn money: looting, quest rewards, and selling items. The earnings value displayed on the screen remains unchanged, but the money counter in the upper right corner of the HUD updates correctly.
The tax percentage is calculated based on the following function:
```
MinTaxPercentage + (MaxTaxPercentage - MinTaxPercentage) * sqrt((MONEY_EARNED - MinCashAmount) / (MinCashAmount + MaxCashAmount))
```
You can edit function parameters in the .ini file, and there's a hardcore preset that lets you get less money!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
