✨ About the module

I know you guys are probably tired of the beta/remastered mods for John Marston in RDR2, especially regarding his hair... but this mod is for people who are okay with his costume, and aren't *that* bothered by John Morgan's face and body. Like you, I just want his damn beta/NPC haircut.

Using JMRP as a base, I learned how to swap hairstyles and adjust other things (like his classic hat) to avoid mold breakage/glitches with the beta hairstyle. **This means this mod does not use any new/external resources other than what is already in the game**.

**This module replaces John's right-part hairstyle at the end (length 7)**

**This mod also works with the latest version of RDR2 (Build 1491.50). I haven't tested in older versions. **

📋 Request

This mod requires:

  • Any ASI loader (Script Hook RDR2 recommended);
  • Latest version of Lenny's Mod Loader RDR.

---

🛠️ Installation

After installing the ASI Loader and Lenny's Mod Loader RDR, just drag the mod folder ("JMBH vX.Y.Z") into the lml folder.

---

🔧 Optional content

Files/folders within the "optional" folder are experimental, alternative, or optional content. It's up to you whether to use it or not.

**John's Beta/NPC Header:** Drag the "stream" folder into the root folder of the mod ("JMBH vX.Y.Z"). Note that the rest of the body may be slightly misaligned with his neck.

---

🔄 Compatibility

As of version 0.2.0, in order to maximize mod compatibility, you must place JMBH at the top of the LML order/ranking (example: image link). I tested compatibility with WhyEm's and Red Dead Offline and everything works fine. Also tested with JMRP and works fine.

If the beta/NPC hairstyle appears to be through the mod on top of John's classic hat, it means that your other mods (other than the ones I mentioned above) replaced the JMBH files that adjust the position of the hat on the head. Please post in the posts section and I can help you figure it out.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
