Joe's Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod Loader

Tired of all the unsatisfactory mod launchers on the market? 🤔 I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a simple and straightforward tool!

✨ Core Functions

This is a very primitive launcher written in batch script. It has only one core mission:

  • **One-click transfer**: Before playing the game, **copy** the module files you stored in the specified folder to the game root directory of "Red Dead Redemption 2".
  • **One-click cleanup**: After the game is over, move the module files **back** to their original location to keep the game directory clean.

Although it doesn't have a gorgeous interface, it's **simple, effective, and gets to the point**, which is exactly what I need!

🛠️ Installation and usage guide

  • **Download**: Download this module from.
  • **Unzip**: Unzip the `JRDRL` folder inside the archive to the **same** hard drive as your Red Dead Redemption 2 game.
  • **Place Mods**: Place all the module files you want to copy to the root directory when launching the game into the `..\JRDRL\mods` folder (the downloaded compressed package already contains this empty mods folder).
  • **Start**: Run `Start JRDRLauncher.bat`.
  • **Follow the Guide**: The launcher will start running and explain on the screen what it will do, just follow the prompts!
💡 **Tip**: Want to understand the installation process more intuitively? You can check out the author's YouTube video tutorial.

⚠️ Known issues and solutions

  • **Issue**: "Access Denied" error message appears when trying to move a file.
  • **Resolution**: Please make sure that the `JRDRL` folder and the Red Dead Redemption 2 installation directory are on the **same hard drive**.

🔮 Future Outlook

If a lot of people use this tool, I might plan to make a prettier launcher with a graphical interface (GUI) to make it look even better! 🚀

Hopefully this simple little tool will make your mod management easier! Have a great time in Westworld! 🤠

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
