Immersive Stores - Catalog Remover
🎯 Mod Concept
This mod is designed to bring a more realistic store shopping experience to Red Dead Redemption 2! I originally made it for myself, but felt that such a great immersion boost should be shared with all players.
In the 1890s, ordinary stores had no such thing as catalogs—most of the goods were displayed directly on the shelves! The catalog system in the game is more like a mail order catalog, but you don't need to order items by mail.
Think about it: When have you ever walked into a regular store just to look at a catalog? How many Westerns have characters walking up to the counter and flipping through the catalog? That’s right, **not** at all! This mod is to restore this sense of reality.
🛍️ How to shop
Very simple! Rockstar actually designed the game with no catalog in mind. Just pick up the item right off the store shelf!
Of course, that means some items are excluded, like clothing and guns. The full list of affected items is below.
👕 Buy clothes and guns
Don’t worry, you can still buy it! Just need:
- When near the counter, right-click on the shopkeeper and hold down the button you normally use to open the catalog (default is to hold down the E key)
- This activates a security mechanism and opens the directory normally
Or you can:
-Buy clothes and guns before installing this mod
- Purchase through the Rockstar Social Club website
To be honest, you don’t need to buy a gun at all – you’ll get it for free as you progress through the game, and sometimes you can even loot it from NPCs!
⚠️ Mission Compatibility
No problem at all! There are only two missions in the game that require purchasing items from the catalog. To complete these tasks, just use the safety button mentioned above and proceed normally.
📋 List of affected items
Here are all the items affected by this mod:
- **Cigarettes**: Only high-end cigarettes can be purchased on the shelves, ordinary cigarettes can only be obtained through looting
- **Weapons related**: Arrows, guns, high-end holsters + gun belts can only be purchased from the catalog
- **Special Item**: Coffee pot can only be purchased from the catalog
- **Fishing Supplies**: Lake fishing bait is now only available in the Lagras store
- **Drug**: Cocaine Gum can now only be purchased at the Doctor, Lagras Shop and Wallace Station Shop
- **Meat**: Mature venison, pork loin and prime beef joints are now only available in the butcher shop
**Changes per store**:
- **Rhodes Shop**: no longer sells clothes, pears, baked beans, canned goods and many other items
- **Valentine Store**: Removed various items such as clothes, peaches, hair oil, etc.
- **Strawberry Store**: Greatly reduced product variety
- **Blackwater Shop**: Removed ammo, supplements, corn and many other items
- **Saint Denis Shop**: several items moved to nearby markets, stables or trappers
- **Tumbleweed Shop**: The product range has been greatly reduced
- **Doctor's Clinic**: Doctor Valentine no longer sells powerful healing potions, these can be purchased from Doctor Saint Denis
- **Wallace Station Store**: Now only sells limited items such as bourbon, cookies, etc.
- **Armadillo Store**: The product range has been greatly streamlined
While this list may seem a bit complicated, try this mod for yourself! Really walking into a store, visiting stores you'd never thought of visiting before, discovering new shopping experiences - this is the ultimate in immersion!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
