(The author allows reprinting. In order to respect the author, you cannot just reprint the module without reposting the detailed introduction he worked hard to write down for everyone to understand, but because it is too long and too long, all of them are machine translations. There will definitely be a situation where the translation is "the donkey's lips are wrong and the horse's mouth is nonsense". Please understand that the original text will be pasted at the end of the post for friends who are interested and want to know more about it.)

☆Overview

Ultimately, the mod aims to make NPC loadouts, weapon selection, and other gameplay elements as accurate as possible to 1898, while not straying too far from the feel, pacing, and overall combat TTK of the original game. I just wasn't satisfied with the historically accurate mods currently available, so I decided to make one myself. I researched for months, and I browsed extensively through each source and their references to ensure the true experience was historically accurate. I went through catalogs from 1896 to 1898 to make sure what exactly was available to civilians at the time, and I also included regional preferences for weapons so some weapons could be found more frequently in the north, east, south, or west. I didn't want to majorly rebalance the weapon stats because I didn't want it to feel like a different game, I still wanted it to feel like Red Dead 2, although I did make some adjustments to the Sniper Rifles & Rifles to make them feel more like a cohesive class. I added the ability to toggle/remove the sniper scope, and made Springfield feel more like a hybrid of the two classes by extending the damage drop range and increasing the minimum damage at maximum range. I also adjusted the damage range of the bolt action rifle, Give it a more complex damage model so it can OHK under 10 meters and still be effective at range without overpowering the Springfield. All rifles and repeaters are equipped with mid-length scopes (except Evans, which is missing the required component data)

☆Weapons

-Cutterman: Although the Cutlerman is the former standard revolver of the U.S. Army, the Cutlerman (Single Action Army) remains a very popular choice among soldiers, gangs, and law enforcement and has been available in large numbers on the civilian market for many years due to its great stopping power and reliability. Lawyers tend to use long guns, civilians tend to use short guns. The short barrel is intended for (limited) Army and government use.

-Schofield: Very popular with law enforcement officers during the Wild West, standards were issued by the U.S. Army at one point, but by 1898, their stock was largely liquidated into the civilian market, making it a popular choice among their age group. The Schofield itself is a nearly identical variant of the Smith & Wesson No. 3 revolver, a very popular revolver that is widely copied and used by gangs, law enforcement, and militaries around the world (hence in Guarma or in the hands of Del Lobos bandits). The short-barreled Schofield and nickel-plated Schofield were very popular in the commercial market, with one notable customer being Wells Fargo and Company, who issued the 5-inch barrel variant to their Stagecoach drivers. Can be found on citizens, gangs, carriage drivers, and guards.

-Double Action: Replaced the SAA (Cutterman) as the standard version of the military revolver, almost exclusively in blue finish. The Model 1892 (double action) and its identical successors, the Model 1894 and 1896, are by far one of the most popular revolvers in the United States. Used by law enforcement, civilians, fort guards and the military, available with long or shor …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
