Historically Accurate Holster

🎯 Module introduction

This is a mod that provides a historically accurate redesign of Arthur Morgan and John Marston's holsters from Red Dead Redemption 2!

✨ Main functions

  • **Historical Accuracy**: Based on actual holster designs used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
  • **Cheyne Mexican Ring Holster**: Adopted the most common holster type at the time
  • **Upgraded Texture**: Version 4.0 redesigns the texture and shape of the upgraded holster
  • **John's Gorgeous Holster**: Added a fancy holster outfit for John Marston
  • **OPTIONAL SECONDARY HOLSTER**: Optional file includes redesigned secondary holster

📜 Historical background

The design of this module is inspired by real historical gun holsters:

  • **Cheyne Mexican Ring Holster** was the most common holster type in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
  • **Buscadero-style holsters** (belt-style holsters with built-in holster slots) were not created for law enforcement until the 1920s and were used in Hollywood westerns

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
