Full Dynamic Range Fix for HDR
🎨 Function Overview
This ReShade preset is specifically corrected for video output in HDR mode, supporting full dynamic range (0-255) color display. It does not alter the game's contrast, saturation, or any other visual effects that would distort the developer's original artistic intent.
🔧 Technical principles
At standard 8-bit color depth, each color channel (red, green, blue) has 256 values (from the darkest 0 to the lightest 255), which can be combined to produce 16.77 million colors. This is the **Full Dynamic Range** used by PC monitors. Due to historical reasons, TV uses **limited dynamic range** (16-235) and can only display 10.64 million colors, losing more than one-third of the colors!
When console games are ported to PC, if developers fail to adapt dynamic range settings, it can result in loss of color, loss of contrast and saturation, and a lack of depth in the image.

📝 IMPORTANT NOTICE
- **SDR Mode Player**: This mod is not required, dynamic range works fine in SDR mode
- **HDR Mode Players**: Remember to perform HDR calibration after installation, do not follow the image instructions
- Set "HDR Style" to "Game" and "Peak Brightness" to match the monitor
- HDR parameters can be manually adjusted in system.xml and even HDR10+ enabled
⚠️ Not compatible with games
- "Dark Souls 3", "Elden's Circle", "Armored Core 6" (other issues exist)
- "Monster Hunter World", "Metal Gear Solid 5" (compatibility issues with ReShade)
🖼️ Effect of use
Use the **LevelsPlus** filter to extend dynamic range with less clipping than other similar filters. You may find that some details in highlight and shadow areas become less obvious, but that's exactly the developer's artistic intent - to use brightness adjustments (or better said, gamma correction) to determine which details should be more clearly visible.
Now, enjoy the vivid colors of Rockstar's world! If you find this mod helpful, please consider giving it a like or leaving a comment, and you are also welcome to share your wonderful screenshots :)
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
