Golden’s real 1899 economic system BETA version

🌵 **Pursue the ultimate authentic western experience**

I've always been obsessed with making gaming experiences as realistic and immersive as possible, so this mod aims to make in-game prices reflect real-life prices in 1899. Never pay a dollar for a can of beans again!

🎯 Module function

This mod changes the prices of **all consumables (herbs, food, medicines, bait, alcohol), weapons, harness and stable services, ammunition, newspapers, and player upgrades**. Although I am no expert on history, I studied various price guides and advertisements from the 1890s to try to recreate the price levels of that time as accurately as possible. While there are tweaks here and there, hopefully this mod will give you an extremely immersive experience.

❓ FAQ

Does it conflict with other mods?

This mod will only conflict with other mods that modify the catalog_sp file.

Why are some items so expensive?

I try to keep all items priced exactly as they were in 1899. For example, the Browning Auto-5 (a semi-automatic shotgun) wasn't yet available to the public at the time, so you were effectively paying a premium for an early prototype, while the Volcano pistol was a rare collector's item. Prices for items like alcohol and supplements are very subjective and I try to find a good middle ground for them.

Which items in the beta have not yet had their prices converted?

Clothing, trapper items, most items bought and sold on the black market, animal trophies, gun upgrade parts, train tickets/carriage fees, gang hideouts, passers-by, money from random encounters and quests, horses, trinkets, and barber shop services have not yet had their prices converted. These will be added in subsequent releases.

Why are some guns free?

This has nothing to do with mods, these guns are free if you buy the special edition of the game, and at the moment I don't know how to restore the original price.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
