RDR2 Enhanced Visual Settings
🎮 **An experimental visual mod that unlocks and enhances Red Dead Redemption 2's graphical options! **
✨ Module Introduction
This mod gives you more possibilities to customize the graphics by modifying the `VisualSettings.dat` file and the in-game graphics options menu. It unlocks otherwise hidden or restricted graphics settings and provides performance and high-quality presets that you can adjust to suit your hardware configuration.

🛠️ Installation and requirements
**Required Tools:**
- **Lenny's Mod Loader**: Available from RDR2 Mods.
- **Scripthook V for RDR2**: available from Dev-C.
**Installation steps:**
- Make sure the two necessary tools mentioned above are installed correctly.
- Drag and drop the `lml` folder in the module compressed package to the existing `lml` folder in the game directory (merge and overwrite).
**Optional Presets:**
The mod pack contains two optional preset folders, `Performance` (performance) and `HQ` (high quality). You can drag and drop one of the folders onto the `lml` folder of the installed module according to your needs.
**⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE (NVIDIA USERS): **
If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, you **must** go into the NVIDIA Control Panel, find the **"Shader Cache"** option for Red Dead Redemption 2 and **disable** it! Failure to do so may result in a series of graphical errors.

⚙️ Features and changes
**Graphics Options Menu Extension**
- Expanded several graphics settings that originally had limited options (e.g. temporal anti-aliasing can now be adjusted from "Low" to "Ultra High").
- Unlocked **"Special"** presets for some graphics options. This is the preset used internally by Rockstar for cutscenes and lacks optimization.
- *Note: Some "Special" options (such as textures) require more than 24GB of video memory, and "Special" shadows require more than 8GB of video memory. *
**VisualSettings.dat Core Adjustment**
- **Shadows**: Allows up to 5 levels of shadow cascading (from 4 levels), with soft shadow distance doubled.
- **Lighting and Reflection**: Slightly enhance the intensity of local light sources (lamps, candles, etc.); slightly increase the refraction effect of hair.
- **Screen Space Shadows**: Optimize the number of samples, increase sampling near to improve quality, and reduce sampling far away to save performance.
- **Materials and Surfaces**: Unify the normal map strength of various materials to 1.0; slightly enhance the subsurface scattering effect.
- **Other effects**: Removed the vignette effect; disabled edge light (requires user confirmation to take effect); increased the intensity of particle shadows.
- **Experimental Adjustments**: Increased the maximum bloodiness of the head (effect unknown); improved dithering algorithm quality.
**Optional preset details**
- **🎯 Performance Preset**: Reduce various LOD distances, volumetric fog accuracy and resolution, reduce the number of shadow cascades and special effects range to increase the number of frames.
- **🎨 High-Quality Presets**: Increase various LOD distances, volumetric fog accuracy and resolution, extend shadow distance and special effects fading distance to squeeze out the potential of high-end GPUs.

📝 Usage suggestions and instructions
- **Mix and Match**: You can freely combine or remove mod features. For example, if you just want the new options menu, just delete the `update/common/` folder during installation.
- **EXPERIMENTAL**: This mod is considered an experimental work, especially the new "Special" settings, which may not work properly. The author only unlocked these options but could not fix their underlying problems.
- **RESPONSIBILITY DISCLAIMER**: The author is not responsible for any problems that may arise from using this mod (from computer problems to Rockstar account issues).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
