dynamic seasons
🌟 Module Features
This mod adds a complete seasons system (spring, summer, autumn, winter) to the game. Each season has a unique visual palette, temperature changes, sunrise and sunset times, weather patterns, and all the hallmarks of a true seasonal climate!
There will be snow cover in winter, similar to the effect of Red Dead Online's winter activities; in late autumn and early spring, there will be more snow in the mountains. Carefully tuned color combinations for each season give fall a wonderful orange-hued vibe!
📊 Season Widget
Starting from version 1.1, a new interface widget displays the current season and its duration. This widget is displayed when the HUD is expanded.
🍂 Season cycle
Each season lasts approximately 10 real-life hours (non-game time), with seasonal changes switching between game sessions. For example, if you play for about 10 hours over 3 game sessions, the season will change the next time you launch the game! (Season length can be adjusted in the ini file)
When the seasons change, get a notification when the game starts!
❄️ Winter specialties
During the winter, the entire map (except for New Austin) is covered in snow and temperatures are extremely cold. Weather conditions are more severe than ever, and snowstorms can come suddenly at any time and anywhere! The overall tone is grayish, creating an accurate atmosphere. The daytime is very short, about 3-4 hours shorter than in summer, with sunrise about 2 hours later and sunset about 2 hours earlier.
🍁 Autumn beauty
Fall is definitely the second most exciting season! As mentioned in the introduction, this season features stunning orange and yellow tones. Temperature conditions are not as harsh as in winter, but obviously there is a high chance of rain or sleet during this season! Daylight hours are also about 2 hours shorter than in summer.
🌸 Spring Recovery
Spring is less visually prominent than other seasons, aiming for a slightly yellowish mix of green tones... (hope that description makes sense haha). The weather conditions are not much different from the original version, except that the temperature is slightly cooler and the daylight hours have not yet reached their maximum length. Some of the winter snow hasn't completely melted yet, so you could see more snow clearing near the mountains!
☀️ Summer time
There's not much to say here... This is "vanilla season" and almost all parameters are kept at their default values. Daylight hours are longest, temperatures are generally hot, and so on. The only big change is that the risk of storms is greater than in other seasons.
⚙️ Installation instructions
Unzip the compressed package and put seasons.asi, seasons.dat, seasons.ini and scripthook rdr2 into the game folder. Then put the Seasons folder in the home directory and another Seasons folder (inside the lml folder) into the lml folder of the game directory.
For mod compatibility using visualsettings, just delete the corresponding file in the lml/Seasons folder and set the value of the file to "0" in the ini file. Or set the mod to override dynamic seasons in the mod manager.
If using RGL (Rockstar Games launcher version), please launch RGL and RDR2 as administrator, otherwise the game will not be able to save/load any data.
🔄 Compatibility Notes
**Vestigia Compatibility**: To set the corresponding vestigia parameter to 1 in the ini file, this will load additional vestigia files.
**Snow and Autumn Foliage 2.0 Compatibility**: While not a hard requirement, starting with version 1.6, Snow - The Ultimate Solo Snow Mod and Autumn Foliage 2.0 - The Solo Autumn Experience are highly recommended. Both mods have "Dynamic Seasons" versions specifically tailored for the best experience. During certain seasons (autumn and winter), the resources for the corres …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
