Disable Encounters

✨ Mod Overview

First, let me talk about the **original intention** of making this mod:

🎬 **Born for content creators**: I want to provide an uninterrupted recording environment for video creators, without being interrupted every 5 seconds by random events like "They've got the wrong guy, they're after my brother Patty!" or "Gavin!"

🔄 **Reducing the burden for old players**: For players who have completed the game many times and experienced all encounters and tasks, this module will save you from having to experience the same content again. What's more, you are free to choose which encounters you want to remove!

---

📥 Installation and Customization

Installation is very simple, just drop the mod's main folder into LML. But what if you want to keep the "Noblest Man and Woman" quest or Chelonian encounter? no problem!

🔧 **Highly Customizable**: You can achieve this by deleting the script file for the corresponding encounter in the mod. For example, if you only want to disable ambushes, gang camps, or random encounters, delete all files not related to them.

💡 **For example**: `spd_endlessstrainer1` corresponds to the moaning guy in the Valentine Hotel. If you just want to get rid of him, you can delete all other files except this one.

---

⚙️ Technical advantages and compatibility

🔗 **Perfect Compatibility**: Could have been achieved with a simple metadata edit, but this would break the mission and conflict with many mods. So this mod takes a smarter approach, ensuring compatibility with **all other mods** and **not breaking any missions**!

🎯 **Careful Design**: I kept the follow-up part of the Stranger quest so that if you've already started the quest, you can still complete it. None of the encounters that I thought were important were removed.

⚠️ **NOTE**: Some collectibles may not be obtainable unless you delete the corresponding discoverable script file.

🐛 Known issues and instructions

  • **Script name typo**: I entered all the script names manually but forgot to add a "1" at the end of the script for `grizzledjon`. This will be fixed in the next update, but can also be easily changed manually.
  • **RARE LOADING ISSUES**: Can cause an infinite loading screen or crash when dying or reloading the game in a few areas. The solution is to temporarily remove the module and then put it back after saving it somewhere else. This situation is rare.
  • **Script Dependencies**: Some encounters may be generated by other scripts and therefore cannot be removed without disabling other content.
  • **Van Horn Bartender**: Will not respawn until the quest for this location is completed. If this bothers you, consider removing the `oddfellows` file.

🔍 **Feedback**: If you find a bug, please inform me in as much detail as possible and make sure it is reproducible. I know that rare encounters like the Boy Beneath the Lodz Gunsmith still exist, but it's unavoidable without editing the metadata.

💭 Final words

For those of you who hate banning mods even if they have valid reasons, I want to say: I understand. I'm actually more interested in adding content to the game than taking away from it. But this mod was made to enhance the gaming experience a hundredfold for content creators and photographers. Hope it helps you!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
