Dirty Guns Explode
🎯Mod Overview
This lightweight mod significantly improves the immersive experience of the game, adding realistic maintenance mechanics and risk elements to the weapon system.
⚙️ How it works
Core Mechanism
- **Weapon Explosion System**: A weapon may explode when its durability drops to about 50% (thresholds are different for different weapon types). Although it can still be fired, the dirtier the weapon, the higher the risk of catastrophic failure
- **Barrel Cracking System**: Introduces random events, which may trigger barrel cracking when shooting, reducing weapon durability and affecting performance
Detailed features
- Random damage multiplier ranging from 0.1 to 1
- **Residue and Dirt Accumulation**: Residue and dirt accumulate with every shot, causing performance degradation over time
- The degree of dirtiness of the weapon affects recoil, jamming probability and misfire probability
- **Environmental Impact**: Certain environments will accelerate the accumulation of dirt, leading to faster degradation
- Warm environments increase the possibility of explosions
- Cold conditions make weapons more fragile, increasing the risk of mechanical failure or barrel cracking
- **Dynamic Recoil Adjustment**: Dynamically adjust recoil mode based on weapon dirtiness and overall condition
- Poorly maintained firearms exhibit more unpredictable and exaggerated recoil patterns, making shooting more difficult to control

⚡ Explosion type configuration
You can modify the explosion type in the INI file:
```ini
[ExpoType]
pistol_expo_type = 23
shotgun_expo_type = 23
revolver_expo_type = 23
rifle_expo_type = 23
sniper_expo_type = 23
```
💡 Note: Changing the explosion type will not change the particle effects, but will modify the sound and visual effects. For example, setting the molotov number will ignite the target
🤕 NPC knockdown mechanism
To enable PED being knocked down (draining health while on the ground) instead of the standard ragdoll effect, modify:
```ini
[Ped]
disable_damage = 0
```
Setting disable_damage = 0 introduces a random chance for the explosion to cause damage, and possibly a critical hit
🔮 Future Plans
- **Special ammunition for gang enemies**
- Opportunity to loot "spiced rounds" from gang NPCs
- Special ammunition will cause more damage to the weapon's condition and accelerate wear and tear
- Has a higher chance of explosion or barrel damage
- Ammo obtained from enemies is tracked separately from player-purchased or "safe" ammo
- **Gun Jam System**
- Based on usage and condition, firearms may jam rather than immediately catastrophic failures
-Added squib loads (bullets that fail to fully exit the barrel), increasing risk and requiring concern
- **Misfire mechanism**
- Each reload or action cycle has a random chance of misfire, affected by weapon condition and ammunition quality
- misfire will trigger smoke effect as visual feedback
- misfire may cause NPCs (possibly including players) to drop weapons, introducing tactical consequences

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
