📦 Installation and use
**Prerequisites**:
- Community ScriptHookRDR2.NET must be installed.
**Installation steps**:
- Place the `DifficultyScaler.dll` and `DifficultyScaler.ini` files into the game's `scripts` folder.
- **Rockstar Games version**: The path is usually `Program Files\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\scripts`.
- **Steam version**: The path is the `scripts` folder in the directory where `RDR2.exe` is located.
- If there is no `scripts` folder in the directory, create one manually (all lowercase).
**How to use**:
- **Default Hotkey**: **F10**. After pressing, the current status and value will be displayed.
- After modifying the value in the `DifficultyScaler.ini` file, press the hotkey switch once to make the update effective.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE
- **Numerical description**: The value in the INI file is **magnification**, and the default value of all items is **1**.
- **Note for non-US keyboard area users**: If your system does not use **dot (.)** as a decimal point (for example, use a comma), **please do not use the .ini file that comes with the module**. When loading for the first time, only put in the .dll file, and the program will automatically generate a default .ini file that matches your system regional settings. This issue will be fixed in subsequent versions.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
