Basic Needs Final Cut
🎬 Final version
**FINAL** is the largest and latest update to the Basic Requirements mod to date, bringing a host of new mechanics, changes, and fixes. Be sure to re-read the intro to see all the new changes, I hope you enjoy it!
---
🎯Basic requirements
This mod adds 5 new core mechanics: **Hunger**, **Thirst**, **Urine**, **Equipment Weight** and **Exhaustion**. Each core can be individually turned off or adjusted to your preference.
⚠️ (Important) Survival menu update
To use the mod's newly added custom actions (drinking/filling water from a kettle, urinating, etc.) you must open the survival menu. The operation method is: **Hold down the aim key** (left trigger button of the controller or left mouse button), and then press the **(Survival Menu) prompt** that appears on the screen. This new system replaces the old menu!

🍖 Hungry
Hunger is the simplest mechanic in this mod. It will decrease at the rate set in the `.ini` file. Replenish by eating, and if your core drops to zero you'll be punished - it's that simple. In the **final version**, the core **"automatic replenishment"** or **"unable to replenish"** problems have almost been solved!
When it's cold outside, hunger levels drop faster.
💧 thirsty
The thirst mechanic is more prominent in this mod. It also decreases at the rate set in the `.ini` file. You can replenish by drinking water directly from a water source or drinking from your water bottle. You can also set whether alcoholic beverages dehydrate you or quench your thirst! In the **definitive version** you can drink from a kettle while walking or even riding a horse!
When you enter water and activate the survival menu, 3 options will appear:
- **Clean Yourself** - Mainly used in role-playing to restore your external stamina bar.
- **Drink Water** - Let Arthur drink from the water source to replenish his thirst bar.
- **Fill Kettle** - Fill your kettle, the amount of water in the kettle is shown by the HUD element in the lower left corner. Your water bottle can replenish your thirst value and can be used up to 4 times, with 1 deducted for each use. **New feature! **Animations are now added for this!
🚽 Urination
The micturition mechanism is similar to the other two cores. The way to replenish it is... yes, you guessed it... urination.
To urinate or fill a water bottle, you need to open the survival function menu. The operation method is: press and hold the **RS key** on the handle or press the **P key** on the keyboard. Two options will appear, and their meanings are self-explanatory.
With the new update, the more you drink, the faster this core will deplete! This is indicated by the color of the core icon.
🎒 Equipment weight
A new UI component will display the weight of your equipment. It discourages action with two lances, as this carries disadvantages in terms of physical strength, hunger, and thirst. Each weapon type has a different load capacity, which can be modified in the `.ini` file. This rule also applies to clothing, as long coats tend to reduce your flexibility in reality. The new mechanics introduced by this core add a new layer of preparation considerations to any combat encounter.
😴 Tired
Largely inspired by **crossed99**'s Sleep Deprivation mod. This core declines slowly, accelerated by the current time of day (day/night) and energy-consuming activities. To increase it, simply sleep or use the new snooze system integrated into the rest menu. When you use the original kneeling function (press and hold the E or Triangle/Y key), a new prompt - **Sleep** - will appear, allowing you to sleep for as long as you want. The length of your nap determines how much energy and fatigue you can recover. When the cores are depleted, Arthur or John will collapse and become unconscious for several hours until he regains his strength …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
