WedgeProtection

v1.0.4·Updated 2026-07-20

A mod that prevents players from taking damage when they get wedged between steep walls.

About this mod Author’s original text

Prevents players from taking damage from being wedged between 2 steep slopes. A long-running quirk of the game where a player can't climb out of a spot and eventually takes a huge amount of damage when they mashes M1 to try to climb out. The caveat is that, without someone to help the player out by using tools or giving extra stamina items, they might get stuck in the wedge forever. I would say at this point, just restart the run.

PLEASE NOTE:

This mod is dealing with an extremely rare phenomenon/circumstance. The math is not perfect - it never will be - and there are always even more outlying cases. I'm simply trying my best to cover the cases where I can reliably test on myself while keeping normal gameplay intact.

Also features a Fall Damage mode selector:

  • Original (default): vanilla game fall damage behavior.
  • Jump: treats all fall damage instances as if the player made a jump. A more lenient experience.
  • WalkOff: treats all fall damage instances as if the player didn't make any jump. A more difficult experience.

The Fall Damage mode is published from Host-to-Client if everyone has the mod installed. If a client doesn't have the mod, he will simply have original fall-damage behavior.

If you are unsure, just leave everything at default (original). You will still get the benefits of not taking fatal damage from wedges.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
