When climbing a mountain online, when using the rescue claw to rescue a teammate, the hook will often be empty or crooked, or the other party will slip and fall next to him after finally hooking up - which is very annoying.
So I made this mod to make the rescue claw better to use and safer:
- When pressing and holding the auto-aim button, as long as the teammate is in the auto-aim circle, the target with the closest crosshair will be locked and the hook will be 100% accurate (the distance will still be within the range of the original rescue claw)
- After being hooked, when a teammate is dragged near you, they can be automatically carried on your back, reducing accidents of falling off the cliff just after being rescued.
- Only carry the person hit by the hook this time, and will not carry other people next to you by mistake
English
In co-op climbs, Rescue Claw saves often miss, lock the wrong angle, or succeed — then the teammate slips again the moment they arrive. Frustrating.
This mod makes the claw easier and safer:
- Hold the aim-lock key: if a teammate is inside the FOV ring, lock the one nearest the crosshair and always hit (range stays vanilla Rescue Claw)
- After a successful hook, when that scout gets close, auto-piggyback them so they are less likely to fall again
- Only carries the scout you just hooked — never a random bystander
Features/function
Aim lock / self-aim lock
- Hold the aim-lock key (default right mouse / Mouse1) while holding a Rescue Claw
Hold down the auto-aim button while holding the rescue claw (default right mouse button / Mouse1)
- Locks the teammate nearest the crosshair inside the FOV cone; fire as usual to pull
Lock on the teammate closest to the crosshair in the self-aiming perspective; fire as usual to pull them away
- Optional FOV ring + locked-name HUD above the crosshair
Optional custom aiming circle and "Locked name" prompt above the crosshair
- Optional bottom-right key prompt (does not replace left-click Use)
Optional button prompts in the lower right corner (does not cover left button use)
Auto carry after hook/Auto carry after hook
- Default ON: after you hook someone, piggyback that same scout when they enter range (awake or passed out)
Enabled by default: After being hooked, the teammate will be automatically picked up as soon as he enters the range (no matter he is awake or unconscious)
- Default range 10 m (configurable 3–40)
Default distance 10 meters (configurable 3–40)
- Press 4 / backpack slot to drop
Press 4 / drop the backpack bar
- If only you have a backpack: swap it onto them while carrying (Piggyback-style hotbar silhouette), restore on drop
When you are the only one with a backpack: While carrying someone, switch the bag to the other party (the hotkey bar displays the silhouette of the person carrying the backpack), put it down and then switch it back.
- If both have backpacks: drop yours at your feet first, then carry
When both parties have backpacks: throw your bag at your heels first, then carry the other person’s bag
Aim distance and pull force/time stay vanilla.
The self-aim distance and pull force/time are all the same as the original version.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
