Fatal Afflictions
A more comical / challenge mod that allows for certain afflictions to be configured to cause instant death (no fainting, just instant skeleton) when acquired. Often causing chaos, as even slightly stubbing your toe will just cause your immediate demise as you comically become a skeleton.
Which afflictions cause instant death can be configured, but the only recommended (and default) ones are:
Poison, Thorns and Injury.
You can technically enable it for Hot or Cold (or even Weight), but this is masochistic and likely not even possible to beat the game with. This mod can make small mishaps (like someone walking into a poison spore) have devestating consequences and instantly kill everyone nearby. As a result, caution will be far more important.
This mod becomes better with more players and is only recommended for solo play if you want to do no damage runs (or if you like turning into a skeleton randomly and are an insane masochist)
Afflictions
-------------
Injury
Cold
Poison
Curse
Drowsy
Weight
Hot
Thorns
NOTES:
- >Curse is a punishment for players who have died and are revived, if you enable it, revived players will die instantly.
- >If you enable Injury, it is possible to instantly die from fall damage in the lobby. If all players die this way, you will be softlocked and will have to leave the lobby (the escape menu still works).
- >If you enable Poison, you'll have to keep in mind that in the Tropics there is a random chance for ticks to spawn on any currently alive player and inflict Poison damage, this cannot be avoided and means that instant death can fall upon any player randomly while in this biome.
- >If you enable Weight, it's theoretically possible to still use items if you use balloons to compensate. If not, any item you pick up will cause instant death.
- >If you enable Cold, in Ascent 5, you'll have to use whatever measures available (like sticking close together) to avoid taking Cold damage. If you go through the night without countermeasures you'll just instantly die.
Installation
Extract the mod.dll file and put it in BepInEx/Plugins.
Only the host needs to have the mod installed, it should work for everyone else after that.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
