📦 Installation Guide
**1. Install Special K**
- Download and install the Special K tool locally
- Tutorial link: Special K Local Installation Guide
- The latest version can be used normally
**IMPORTANT NOTE:**
- Tutorial Step 5: Nier Pretender uses 64-bit executable and DirectX 11 API
- Tutorial Step 7: Rename the DLL file to d3d11.dll (dxgi.dll is invalid)
**2. Install module files**
- Locate the game file location (where d3d11.dll was previously placed)
- Place texture folder in: SK_Res\inject\textures
- If the folder is missing, create it manually
**3. Load texture**
- Launch the game and load the save file
- Press CTRL-SHIFT-BACKSPACE to open the Special K menu
- Click "Render Mod Tools" → "Reload All Injected Textures"
---
🛠️ Troubleshooting
**If texture is not loaded:**
- Check if the texture folder location is correct
- In the Special K menu: File → Browse Texture Assets → Injectable Textures
- This will open the correct location of the texture folder (subfolders also work)
- If files are moved while the game is running, please restart the game
**Graphics settings check:**
- Make sure "D3D11 State Performance Tracker" is unchecked
- Make sure "Enable HUDless Screenshots and Texture Mods" is checked
- If the problem persists, try checking or unchecking the "D3D11 Deferred Mode" option
**If it still doesn't work:**
- You can ask for help on the Special K Discord server

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
