Level cap increased to 160
These files will allow you to exceed the maximum level of 30, up to 160.
Why 160? Because it's 4x40. A single level "breaks" past level 40, their BAB reverts to zero, their save reverts to zero, spells per day are around 40 per spell level, they no longer award bonus feats, ecc.. which means the maximum that can be achieved without breaking the class is 160.
Keep in mind that these files alone only allow you to get past level 30 in the official campaign. For every other campaign created by the community, in addition to installing this campaign, you must modify the campaign settings to allow for levels above 30 and allow you the possible number of exp for that level. Instructions can be found below.
The files provided with this mod will only move the hard-coded level cap from 30 to 160, however, the game will still control the "soft-coded" level cap based on the campaign. To change this value you must use the NWN2 toolset.
As of version 1.5 of this mod, the campaign.cam files for the 4 standard campaigns (Original Campaign, Mask of the Betrayer, Zehir and Zegate Storm) are automatically generated, so you don't need to do anything else to play these campaigns at a level higher than level 30 if you wish.
(If you don't like this and want to play the standard campaign with the intended level cap, I've also provided a backup file and you can just delete the campaign.cam file and rename the campaign_backup.cam file to campaign.cam)
However, for other campaigns created by players, you must edit campaign.cam yourself using the NWN2 toolset, and to do this you must open the campaign editor (Plugins -> Campaign Editor). Just change the fields as shown in the screenshot below:
If you are a module creator running this campaign for the first time, or you are trying to implement this change in an old module that is not related to any campaign, don't forget to open it with Toolset first and then use the "Set Module to Use Selected Campaign" button. You will receive a message telling you to save the module and reopen it using the toolset for the changes to take effect.
Exp level is the same as original level, level 160 requires 12880000 exp
Tested only for GOG's 1.23 NWN2 Complete.
Install:
1- (If a previous version is installed) Delete the Level_Cap_Increase folder in the NWN2 completion/overwrite installation directory.
2- Unzip the contents of the zip folder in the Neverwinter Nights 2 INSTALLATION folder. It already contains a backup file of the original game if you want to delete it later.
How to uninstall:
1- Delete the Level_Cap_Increase folder in the NWN2 completion/overwrite installation directory.
2-Delete nwn2main.exe file
3-Rename nwn2main_backup.exe to nwn2main.exe
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
