Export/Import roles to modify attributes, skills and perks in text files
Installation instructions:
Using Vortex
Activate the module through the Bannerlord launcher
Manual installation instructions:
Download .zip file
Go to your bannerlord module folder (e.g. G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules)
Unzip the zip in the module
Launch the Bannerlord launcher and tick to enable the mod
The file structure should look like this:
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer \ SubModule.xml
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&BladeII Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer \ bin....
Installation troubleshooting:
Unblock file access permissions
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer \ bin \ Win64_Shipping_Client \ CharacterTrainer.dll
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer \ SubModule.xml
G:\ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Mount&Blade II Bannerlord \ Modules \ CharacterTrainer \ GUI \ Prefabs \ EncyclopediaHeroPageCharacterTrainer.xml
Or tell me what's in C:\Users\(Users)\Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\CharacterTrainer\CharacterTrainer_log.txt (if this file doesn't exist, probably you still need to fix access permissions)
How to use
Open the party screen.
Right click on any character you want to export/import on the troop list
The encyclopedia will open and you can see 2 buttons at the bottom of the screen, Export and Import
If you select Export, the file will be created in C:\Users\(user)\Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\CharacterTrainer\(your character name)\(your character name).txt
Edit values as needed
Click the Import button to re-import the edited statistics. If you want to ignore the exp, press Shift while clicking the button.
The companion file will be named in this format (your companion name). (internal ID).txt, e.g. "Jim the Strong.lord_1_2.txt"
Added internal IDs from v1.0.8 to avoid conflicts as I found many characters with the same name. You don't have to worry about the internal ID, just export the characters first and the internal ID will be in the filename. Also, you don't need the internal ID as the primary role (see step 4)
Removed classic Ctrl+K and Ctrl+L, use older versions if needed.
Appearance changes only apply to your protagonist
How to use older versions (only for OBSOLETE v1.0.6)
Ctrl + L affects the character's experience and level
Ctrl + Shift + L ignore character exp and level
If lowering the skill level doesn't work, there's nothing I can do about it, it could be that engine limitations don't allow you to lower it, my best option would be to use Ctrl+Shift+L to lower it, since Ctrl+L naturally increases your experience points
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
