Added quick load button and configurable dedicated quick save key
Normally when you do a quick save by pressing "F5" or using the "Save" button in the pause menu, the game overwrites your most recent manual save. This mod changes this behavior so the game will now save to a configurable number of dedicated quicksave files.
When the maximum number of quick saves is reached, files are rotated and the oldest files are overwritten. By default, this number is 3
It can be easily changed in the file BetterQuicksaveConfig.xml located in the ModuleData folder. You can also quickly load your latest quicksave using a bindable key (default is "F10"). You can also quickly load from combat/conversation.
Install
Place the BetterQuicksave folder into the folder in your Modules game installation directory. Or use Vortex. After that, just activate the mod in the game launcher.
uninstall
You can remove/disable the module without problems. Your quicksave file will be retained and treated by the game as a normal manual save. If you reinstall/re-enable the module, it will recognize any saves previously made by the module (or any saves named quicksave_XXX).
Configuration
The configuration file is located at:
[Game Install Location]/Modules/BetterQuicksave/ModuleData/BetterQuicksaveConfig.xml
<MaxQuicksaves>3</MaxQuicksaves>
Change to any number of quicksave slots you want. Please note that each save file is approximately 50MB and will grow larger as the game progresses.
<QuicksavePrefix>quicksave_</QuicksavePrefix>
Choose a name prefix to use for quicksave (e.g. quicksave_ will result in something like quicksave_001). Certain special characters are not allowed and will be removed. If MaxQuicksaves is set to 1, it will only be used as the file name.
<QuickloadKey>68</QuickloadKey>
Select the key you want to bind to Quick Load. By default, it is F10 (to represent 68).
<PerCharacterSaves>true</PerCharacterSaves>
Choose whether each of your characters has their own quicksave slot. The character name will be added to the save name (e.g. Name ClanName quicksave_001).
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
