WildWind Mod Wind

Wild Wind is a multiplayer mod for Warband that focuses on survival and politics. I guess with the currently released mod you can closest compare it to Persistent World, but that's a bit tight. Probably the most important thing you need to do is collect food in order not to die, but the most interesting elements are the buildings and villages. I've written a nice little menu that gives you access to different buildings and power-ups with the click of a few buttons. Of course, you need to gather resources to build them. The only two resources currently available are wood and metal, but I will definitely add more to make the game deeper. You can also craft items, which you can then purchase shop items (lol rhymes with that), allowing other players to purchase them from you. This gives you the option of making a hut on the edge of the map and living like a hermit yourself, relying on your own inventions, or joining a player-built village and becoming part of the economy.

Of course, you can also live less legally. Each has the ability to kill anyone at any time, but doing so increases the bounty on your head. It's up to the player who decides they've had enough of all the crime and want to take down the wrongdoers, whether for money or honor. I'm also considering having a "restore player" button for admins to restore a player who was killed by mistake (see: player killed by a sad noob) to his original position and his original gold and items, but I'll have to see if that's reasonable before giving it too much thought.

If it's not already obvious, the mod will take place in the American Old West. Especially 1890. I haven't done much modeling yet as I've been doing fancy menus and various other necessary scripts, but that shouldn't take too long. Honestly this mod has been swimming so far

The Wild Wind is a multiplayer modification of Warband that focuses on survival and politics. I suppose the currently released mod that you could most closely compare this to would be Persistent World, but that's a bit of a stretch. Probably the most important thing you will need to do is collect food in order to not die, but the most interesting element is the building of structures and villages. I've already scripted a nifty little menu that gives you access to different buildings and props that you can spawn just by clicking a few buttons. Of course, you will need to collect resources to be able to build them. The only two current resources are wood and metal, but I will surely be adding more to make the gameplay deeper. You can also craft items that you can then stock a shop prop (lol rhyming) with, allowing other players to buy them from you. This gives you the option to either make a little shack at the edge of the map and live like a hermit by yourself, subsisting by your own inventions, or to join a player-built village and become part of the economy.

You can, of course, also live less legally. Everyone will have the ability to kill anyone at any time, but doing so will raise the bounty on your head. It's up to players who decide they've had enough with all the crime and want to stamp out the wrongdoers, be it for money or honor. I'm also thinking about having a "restore player" button for admins that will restore a wrongfully killed player (see: player who was killed by griefing noob) to his original position with his original gold and items, but I'll have to see if that's plausible before giving it too much consideration.

If it wasn't already obvious, the mod takes place in the American Old West. Specifically the year 1890. I haven't actually done too much modeling yet because I've been doing the fancy menus and various other scripts that are necessary, but that shouldn't take too long. Honestly, this mod has been going swimmingly so far.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
