About this mod Machine translation

More Women More Women

TL;DR = This mod adds more women to the game, provides new and expanded troop trees and types, etc. There are two versions: one merged with Diplomacy v4.2 and one merged with the native game. See the wall of text below for more information.

How do I install it?

Download, unzip, enter the 'More Women' folder in the game's mods folder, select the mod from the drop-down menu in the game's launcher window, and enjoy.

I also have a FAQ about the Steam download site here, but feel free to post any questions or feedback you may have here.

What's this?

This is the base game (native or diplomatic 4.2), modified female versions of most units, some new companions, and more female NPCs, lords, etc. This was something that was fairly simple when I first started learning about trekking. This is code for the first time; a confidence builder of sorts. I had some fun and thought I'd share. It has been growing slowly for months.

semi-reasonable backstory

Years of constant war have dwindled Calradia's population of young men fit to fight, and the rulers found themselves increasingly turning to women to fill the gaps in their armies. Recruiting able-bodied men from local villages has become a dream, and a strong adventurer will find a steady stream of female volunteers eager to leave a family with limited prospects for Calradia increasingly accepting of non-traditional female roles.

Still, men still hold the power, so while many women have easier access to the doorways, a glass ceiling hangs not far overhead. Only a few women could hold title to a fief, and some countries excluded women except from the upper ranks of the infantry. Young men trained to fight, on the other hand, find they can now charge a premium for their services, although some openly wonder whether the higher prices are justified. Despite this, they can often be found in the taverns and streets of Calradia, handing out their blades to the highest bidder.

Recently, the conflicts beyond the southern desert that have been forcing refugees to the north have finally reached Calradia's borders. Kinaga Warbands have been spotted in the mountains around Shariz and moving north. Although they did not appear to form an organized fighting force, the faces of the wide-eyed travelers who were lucky enough to escape the onslaught told the whole story. Many sleepless nights plagued the Lords and farmers as the region fought against an unknown invader.

nuts and ink

Female faction units all alter male faction units in some way, and some of the top faction infantry units don't have female versions. As for the variations, they vary but tend to follow one of two themes. Low level female units will generally be weaker than male units. Higher level units generally have lower stamina but higher skills; extra attention to skill compensates for the lack of brute strength. This means that for units where raw strength isn't as important, the female version will prove superior (Crossbows, for example, come easily to mind). Finally, any performance differences between the sexes should not be too large. While one or the other may be better on paper, they should both be able to perform their functions to the fullest.

The southern units are almost the opposite of the above, with the female units being stronger and the male units being more skilled. Female bandit units are meant to supplement existing male units, adding more bows or melee strength etc., depending on what the male units lack. Most bandit packs are around 50% larger than the base game, and bandits have several additional levels. There are now also bandit leaders who wish to give adventurers more of a challenge and will kill their recruits if allowed.

The troop trees from the original game are unchanged, just expanded. Adding units to the troop tree can

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
