Louder Footsteps

This mod only contains modified copies of the original sound files for the footsteps of humans and horses. The volume of each increases by 10 dB.

The sound of jumping and moving in the water is unaffected.

As I played, I was constantly struck by how enemies would charge at me and wave at me before I even knew they were there. One would think that even in combat the sound of boots or hooves hitting the ground would be quite noticeable. Instead, these sounds are almost silent unless they are actually right next to the listener, within the swing range. Even so, they were still hard to hear.

To install:

Download the zip file.

Extract the contents to MountBlade Warband/Sounds where the game is installed. In Steam, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband/Sounds

Agree when asked if you want to replace the file.

If the sound of human footsteps is still not loud enough, there is an option to download a file that is 10 dB louder than the main file (total +20 dB).

For convenience, I've also included the original, unchanged files as an optional download. They can be used to "uninstall" if you change your mind.
