Companions v.96 + Diplomacy v3.1

12 Lords & Ladies - Each inspired by 1 faction from the game, with stats based on actual game lords so they don't lose the balance of the game. Each of them comes pre-equipped with specific unmodified (i.e. not reinforced/broken) gear. They cost 15000 denier each but that's because I don't want them to farm for their equipment. However, if you are ready to run your own kingdom, you should set up your own bank account. Their high level means they are quite expensive to have in your army, so they are really meant for player kingdoms that require capable lords.

They all have unique dialogue based on real historical/legendary characters their faction influenced. They do have competitors they don't like. Men and women of factions like them influenced the opposing gender. As explained in the changelog, men and women hate their neighbors in hateful circles.

1 Lord and 1 Lady - King-level (possibly higher) Lord and Lady - are more powerful and expensive than the others, making ideal marshal material. Cost 20,000 denars. Their army had about 180+ men, so they were pretty bad. When they become a fiefdom, they gain the title of "Marshal" (but are not actually Marshal of your army.)

28 Mighty Warriors - Basically like troops that didn't die in battle, just knocked out of the game. They are strong, but don't have the skills and attributes necessary to be a good lord.

6 Party Skill Masters - They don't cost a lot to recruit, but they have a high maintenance rate because they are level 50, but their combat effectiveness is very low for that level. But the game seems to give them higher stats then I assign them (I gave them 4 strength when they appeared in the game they had 12 for some reason) so they can wear decent armor and equip decent weapons, but they won't quite have the skills and proficiency to use them. Their intention is to place them at the bottom of your troop list and keep the fight going, but on larger battle scales this isn't possible. They are also not designed to be upgraded since they are already experienced in their work. Your best bet is to assign them to groups of shooters, or form a group for them and tell them to wait when the battle starts.

The 9 mid-level lords are cheaper than the original lords and not as effective at fighting and leading armies, but you can spend time on them to make them better vassals, although not 100% necessary, but the cost of 6000 is a piece of cake. Some people have unique titles when they become "Lords", so instead of being "Lord Soandso" they are "Something Soandso".

Companions: The stats of these companions progress very similarly to the player, so with the right training you can turn them into very capable lords or warriors. Some started to go further.

Things to do:

Give a new group of companions (powerful warriors, skill masters, mid-level lords) unique dialogue.

Installation instructions:

Unzip the .rar in the modules folder.

This does not work with any other mods currently. If you try to install it on other mods, it will most likely mess up your game. I'm 99% sure this doesn't work on saved games since it adds new troops (sorta).

If you want to use it in other mods, please ask their manufacturer to include it. Or somehow get the python/modsystem files, you can add them yourself from the source code at the bottom of this post. I can't tell you how to merge text files because I don't know how text files work, only python/modsystem files. I don't have the habla binary.

The source has placement instructions. Version: 0.95

To-do list: for

Companion provides complete only dialog box.

Change log:

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
