About this mod Machine translation

Replace the double tail with three longer versions of your choice. I edited the physics and bones, but the twin tails still only have 3 bones. In comparison, a ponytail usually has about 7 bones. I wrote some notes about the CTC nudge/physical format here.

Warning: This forces a high poly mesh (i.e. no LOD). Depending on your system, it may negatively impact your framerate.

Update log:

  • Greatly improved physical movement for medium and large sizes. Still not perfect (I wish they moved sideways more softly).
  • Added optional floating point physics. Still needs to be adjusted to limit movement (so the twin tails don't cross over, etc.).
  • Added optional balance physics. I recommend using this. Warning: First version crashes character creation. Sorry about that.

Install:

Unzip the archive (with folders) to Steam\Steamapps\common\Monster Hunter World\

If you want to replace a different hairstyle, you can try renaming the folders and files from 107 to any number between 100 and 112.

uninstall:

If you want to restore the original version, just delete the mod file in NativePC\wp\pl\hair\hair107\

Thanks to Vuze for the unpacking tool, daemon1's raw texture converter (correct offset values are usually 100,108,110,118), MHWTexConvert for converting DDS to BC7, the MT Framework tool imported with Predator for reference, and CrazyT's BlenderMhwModelImporter.

Replaces the twin tails with your choice of three longer versions. I edited the physics and bones, but the twin tails still only have 3 bones each. For comparison, ponytails usually have around 7 bones. I wrote some notes on the CTC jiggle/physics format here.

Warning: This forces use of the high polygon mesh (ie. no LOD). Depending on your system, it may negatively impact your frame rate.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
