About this mod Machine translation

In previous Monster Hunter games, setting the HUD to hidden still allowed important information to be temporarily displayed by holding down the Camera or Item Select buttons. HUD elements can also be moved to the second screen of DS titles. This allows players to avoid having floating bars on the edge of the screen permanently blocking their view while hunting, gathering and generally being caught by fish.

This time around, the hidden HUD permanently hides HP, stamina, minimap, sharpness, most weapon-specific parameters and a few other things. Therefore, this AutoHotkey script was written to act as a switchable and movable replacement for most HUD elements.

It's not meant to "assist" hunting - fighting monsters without a primitive HUD should be expected to be left, at best, at a marginal disadvantage. However, some features that do expose information not easily visible on the HUD are included because they facilitate implementation. Please consider the wishes and intentions of other players.

This script does not write to memory but reads values from it.

usage:

Extract files to any folder.

Change the settings as needed in the settings.txt file.

Run .ahk or .exe - both should be the same.

If MHW is running both, it *should* work, no matter which one starts first.

If the in-game option for "HUD Display" is "Off", turn on the "Control Guide" in the first tab with the option "On" - this is needed to correctly update some values, which will hide the control guide anyway.

The overlays appear from top to bottom:

status effect

HP Bar

Endurance Bar

Party HP

Tool usage and cooling time

Palico Tool Use and Cooling to the Right

Melee weapon sharpness, ranged weapon ammo and other weapon specific parameters

Optionally, monster HP is on the right

See the readme file for details.

In previous Monster Hunter games, setting the HUD to hidden still allowed vital information to be temporarily displayed by holding down the "camera" or "item selection" button. HUD elements could also be moved onto the second screen on DS titles. This allowed players to avoid having their vision permanently obstructed by floating bars on the edge of the screen when hunting, gathering and generally getting tackled by fish.

This time around, hiding the HUD permanently conceals HP, stamina, the minimap, sharpness, the majority of weapon specific parameters and some other things. Hence, this AutoHotkey script was written to act as a toggleable and moveable substitute for most HUD elements.

It is not intended to "assist" in hunting - fighting monsters without the original HUD should  be done with the expectation of being left, in the best cases, at a marginal disadvantage. However, some features that do expose information not readily visible on the HUD are included because they were convenient to implement. Please be considerate of other players' wishes and intentions.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
