About this mod Machine translation
Make your pet look like a dog. For those who love dogs. Now you can express your love
question:
- Some eye types now look weird (e.g. too squeezed).
- The neck is a bit narrow
- The eye gloss should be higher, but I can't seem to get it to go higher.
- The nose goes through some headgear.
- In rare cases, the mouth may pinch slightly at the bottom of the mouth.
Install:
NativePC Unzip to Steam\Steamapps\common\Monster Hunter World\
uninstall:
Delete the files in NativePC\otomo\ot000\
Thanks to Vuze for the unpacking tool, daemon1 for the raw texture converter (correct offsets to parse TEX, correct values are usually between 100 and 118), MHWTexConvert for converting DDS to BC7 and the MT Framework tool for converting with Predator allowing me to see the UVs, and hpxro7 for the MHW audio modification tool.
Makes your Palico look like a canine. For those who prefer dogs. Now with sounds! Only affects your Palico.
I decided to release this in its current state because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep working on it. I'm not particularly a cat or dog fan, but I know some people wanted a dog partner instead of a cat, so I wanted to see if this kind of MOD is possible. I was trying to make it look like a Shiba dog, but I think the neck needs to be a lot fatter, which causes clipping with most armor. So I reverted the neck to a thinner version.
I've added dog sounds for outside of combat (talking, idling in room). The combat sounds are in other files that don't seem to be fully suppored by current available tools. So for the meantime, I've muted combat sounds entirely.
Probably goes well with this mod to remove felyne puns from Palico speech.
Issues:
- Some eye types look weird now (eg. too squeezed).
- Fatter neck clips a little.
- Eye shine should be higher, but I couldn't seem to make it go any higher.
- Snout clips through some headgear.
- On very rare occasion, mouth may slightly clip through the bottom of the mouth.
Modder notes:
I've uploaded an optional file with all the textures converted to DDS and PNG, for those who want to play around with editing them.
If you don't know how to edit textures, here's my tutorial.
The voices are in NativePC\sound\wwise\Windows\ and are all the files with ot000 prefix. Audio replacement can be done with this. They also have a tutorial.
I don't know if the cutscene cat sounds are embedded into the cutscene track.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
