FreeChestsPlus
A mod for Megabonk that not only makes chests free, but also patches the HUD counters of gold and current chest price.
Don't forget to turn off 'Send to Leaderboards' feature in your game settings!
📋 Requirements
- Megabonk (Steam version)
- BepInEx 6.0.0+ (Unity IL2CPP version)
🔧 Installation
Automatic (Recommended)
- Install r2modman or Mod Manager
- Search for FreeChestsPlus in the mod manager
- Click "Install"
- Launch the game through the mod manager
Manual
- Download and install BepInEx 6.0.0+ IL2CPP for your game
- Run the game once to generate BepInEx folders
- Download the latest release of or GitHub Releases
- Extract FreeChestsPlus.dll into BepInEx/plugins/ folder
- Launch the game
📝 Building from Source
- Clone the repository:
git clone
cd FreeChests
- Copy required DLLs from your Megabonk installation to libs/ folder:
- BepInEx/core/BepInEx.Core.dll
- BepInEx/core/BepInEx.Unity.IL2CPP.dll
- BepInEx/core/0Harmony.dll
- BepInEx/core/Il2CppInterop.Runtime.dll
- BepInEx/interop/UnityEngine.dll
- BepInEx/interop/UnityEngine.CoreModule.dll
- BepInEx/interop/Assembly-CSharp.dll
- BepInEx/interop/Il2Cppmscorlib.dll
- Build the project:
dotnet build
- The compiled DLL will be in bin/Debug/net472/FreeChestsPlus.dll
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
