HUD overhaul

The main goal is to change the way HUD markers are displayed to get rid of the clutter on the compass and make navigation in Andromeda easier and more convenient.

Some thoughts on why I'm trying to change this

During games I often try to resolve the confusion that occurs on the compass due to the large number of markers being displayed at the same time. As a result, they become useless in certain game situations and often just interfere with navigation and cause confusion.

To find waypoint markers and determine direction of movement, I had to return to the map menu again and again.

A small up or down arrow on a compass has to indicate which direction you need to go when you're near an object, person, or waypoint, and this often ends up being unhelpful because it doesn't take into account the vertical orientation of the object.

So I tried to transfer a portion of the compass markings directly onto the map surface to more accurately account for differences in altitude levels to determine their position, I think, to some extent allowing for a break from the clutter of that damn compass navigation.

Transfer mark list:

Show mark description

  • A waypoint marker will always only appear on the screen (if it is marked on the map) until you reach its location.
  • If tracking on the map or activated in the mission log, the main mission objective marker (or markers, if there are multiple markers) will always be displayed on the screen as well as on the compass.
  • If a current task is provided, an optional task mark will also be displayed.
  • All other markers from the list above will be hidden or only shown on the screen if you are near their visible area.
  • When each marker becomes visible, they have a fixed distance: the marker appears if you approach its location, and disappears when you move away.
  • The mark above also indicates the relationship with them

distance. 7. Markers in the visible area will be tracked if they are off screen.

Some texture changes 1. To make the HUD more cluttered, the compass background texture was removed (only N, S, W, E shown). For the same reason, the marker textures of waypoints, friendly NPCs, and hostile NPCs have also changed. 3. Mark size reduced by 50%

Some marker colors are more visible on the map.

  • Changed the quest marker texture to make it look less intrusive.
  • Change the player marker texture to the N7 logo to make it more visible on the map.
  • Changed trader, granade, allies, search area markers. ================================================== ================== Check the screenshot to see how it looks in game. To install Use Mist Mod Manager with v.1.10 Support for my other mods MEA Assault Rifle and Pisto …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
