First person switch

This mod adds a fully functional, switchable first-person mode, and retains the default third-person perspective. You can switch between first- and third-person perspectives at any time while exploring the hub or during combat. However, the cutscenes and dialogue are still in third place.

describe

First Person Toggle aims to introduce a full-featured but optional first-person mode alongside the vanilla third-person perspective that can be switched on the fly during exploration and combat. This mod is designed to be compatible with single player campaigns. Basic multiplayer support is also provided.

feature

Switchable first person

Switch between first and third person at any time during exploration or combat by long pressing the scanner button.

If First Person is inactive, the vanilla Third Person perspective is used.

Cutscenes, dialogue and some actions (gravity well, vault, ladder) take place in third person. However, if First Person was previously active, it will be automatically reactivated upon completion.

exploration

First-person exploration will make your character invisible by design due to the lack of strafing animations (except for scanning).

fighting

If in third person, all combat systems, such as side switching or auto-override, work as expected.

If in first person, with side switching disabled, use the side switching button to manually toggle the cover's crouch. Manually crouching reduces movement speed by 50%. Coverage detection range is increased to compensate for the increased difficulty.

Field of View (FoV)

Adjust FoV via the game slider under the game settings panel, up to 135°.

Gamepad support

This mod fully supports gamepads (controllers).

How to use this mod

■To switch to first-person mode,

Long press the scanner button to toggle first person (Controller: 'DPad Down', M/Kb: 'G').

A short press will open the scanner as usual.

■To adjust the first-person field of view (FoV),

  • Unfortunately the mod cannot change the default FoV value of 45°.

You need to change this value yourself. to this end,

In the game, go to Settings, then Game. At the top, you'll find the FoV slider.

Use the slider to adjust the FoV. The upper limit is 135°. The value shown is your true FoV in First Person.

■Crouch in first person,

In first-person combat, press the side switch button to manually crouch for cover (default M/Kb: Left Alt).

current issues

Charge, Nova and Avenger Strike abilities cause camera issues. This happens because I cannot edit these files with the current version of Frosty. This will be fixed once Frosty is fixed.

In third-person combat, peeking from the edge of the cover does not trigger the correct camera transition. This is minor, but still worth mentioning.

compatibility

Fully compatible with MEA Fixpack

Unless explicit compatibility is expressed, any conflict will break the mod, and problems can range from minor camera issues to game-breaking issues.

Change log

1.2:

  • The method used to hide heads, helmets and gear has been completely reworked (after hours of research)

Helmets are now fully visible in 3rd person and react appropriately to slider options (and off in game/dialogue if selected)

Heads and helmets are now displayed correctly when viewing loadouts

Rare events where the head didn't appear properly, such as Ryder Sr. talking to Ryder in the Weather Tower, are now completely gone.

Multiplayer characters are no longer headless, this approach also works with supported characters (asari/human)

Other changes:

First person SMG zoom transition fixed

Many of the camera changes were not gender specific before, as camera placement is more consistent

In first-person exploration, interactions are made visible to the player

1.1F:

Sniper OK camera reworked for first person (incorrect height when crouching, overall positioning is very poor)

Fixed sniper sco …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
