Odd Company

Seven strange visitors for your next quota run. Version 0.8.0 is an experimental test build, with killable creatures, optional SellBodiesFixed corpse drops, heartbeat struggles and original encounter audio.

0.8.0: Hunt, haul and sell

No timed despawning. Living creatures remain until killed or the encounter is cleared at round/session end. Test mode no longer auto-removes creatures either: kill one to free its slot. The Last Passenger's deliberate disappearance after marking a victim is still part of that ability, not a lifetime timer. Disabling the mod or incompatible-client safety pauses still clear encounters.

All seven can be killed with vanilla shovels/knives. Pligga and Tollbud need eight accepted hits; the other five, including the physically present Passenger, need six. Bodies cannot be killed repeatedly for extra rewards. Other weapon mods, shotgun damage and native EnemyAI-only integrations are not implemented by this change. Killing the Passenger before its scripted disappearance cancels its current mark; once absent there is no corpse to attack. Killing the Blackout releases its captive.

SellBodiesFixed integration: inspected against your installed Entity378-SellBodiesFixed 1.14.0. If it is loaded and its modded bodies are enabled, a kill spawns one of its registered generic modded-enemy bodies. The original custom encounter is replaced by that collectible corpse. Its own BodySyncer controls value/network synchronization, and its registered item supplies weight, two-handed behavior, pickup and selling. This uses SellBodiesFixed's generic corpse appearance, not individually modeled movable ragdolls of these seven monsters. Its normal item lifecycle governs carried/sold bodies; Odd Company does not delete the sale item on encounter cleanup.

Body categories: Pligga and Tollbud use ModdedEnemyPowerLevel2; Passenger and Blackout use ModdedEnemyPowerLevel3; Hushloom, Backstitch and Foldback use ModdedEnemyPowerLevel1. Tune those categories in SellBodiesFixed. Disabled categories or blacklisted creature names do not produce sellable bodies. Without a compatible/active SellBodiesFixed, kills leave a visual-only fallen body until round cleanup. Such fallback bodies are not collectible and do not occupy a live spawn slot.

There is no MobDrops/random-scrap integration in this release. No third-party DLLs or assets are bundled. Keep the same SellBodiesFixed version on every client; if the host has it but a guest does not, Odd Company pauses encounters. All players need Odd Company 0.8.0 (protocol 9).

Validation: compiled against installed game assemblies, 103 offline rule checks and 39 generated-audio validations passed. The compatibility code uses the installed SellBodiesFixed prefab contract; this is not live-tested compatibility. On a disposable multiplayer save, kill each creature, verify exactly one body, pick it up on host and guest, carry it aboard, save/load, and sell it at the Company. Verify disabled-body fallback and survival past the old 160/300-second timers. Public implementation reference: SellBodiesFixed source.

Earlier release sections below are historical; the current death and lifetime rules above replace their older descriptions.

0.7.1: Victory voice

The supplied ElevenLabs recording now plays once after the host confirms six successful heartbeat taps. It is spatial audio at the grab location, audible to the survivor and nearby living crew within 24 metres, using the local WarningVolume setting. Rescue, timeout, cancellation and failure do not trigger it. Old completion snapshots do not replay it.

Install the complete ZIP: BlackoutVictory.mp3 must remain beside OddCompany.dll. The original recording is packaged unchanged and loaded locally; no ElevenLabs account, API key or internet connection is needed during gameplay. All players need 0.7.1 (network protocol 8). Missing/undecodable audio logs a warning and does not block the minigame. Ensure you have distribution rights for your supp

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
