Installation
This is the recommended installation process:
- Download and install Mod Manager or r2modman.
- Click Install with Mod Manager button at the top of this page.
- Run the game via the mod manager.
Customisation
To add custom songs you follow the following steps:
- Export your song in ogg/mp3/wav format.
- Navigate to the mod folder McBowieExe
- Drag in the song, and add a prefix, like Screaming_, Windup_ or Popup_ (for example Screaming_Freebird.ogg will be one of the screaming sounds).
To remove songs simply delete them from the folder.
Linking Windup
You can link the windup theme to the screaming theme by:
- Navigate to the mod folder McBowieExe
- Open the linkedSongs.json
- Add your own entry following the format:
[
{
"WindupName": "FILENAME",
"ScreamingName": "FILENAME"
},

]
Note
This causes the screaming theme to play whenever the windup theme is selected. Not the other way round.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
