About this mod Author’s original text

Lethal Company v81 Friends Pack: Hard Mode

A switch-on hard mode for the

Lethal Company v81 Friends Pack:

random painful events, ship malfunctions, no spawn-budget refunds and extra traps, tuned to be brutal but

fair. Nothing else in the base pack changes, and the pack's loot economy (about 2x items at 60 percent

value, quota raised to match) is preserved while the events run.

How the toggle works

Profile import file (recommended). The four hard-mode mods are already in the profile but

disabled. For a hard-mode night, every player opens the profile's Installed tab in r2modman,

searches for each name below, and flips its switch on. Flip them off again for a normal night. Everyone

must flip the same set: Brutal Company and Devious Traps register network objects, so a player who has

them off cannot join a host who has them on.

| Mod | Who must enable it |

|---|---|

| BrutalCompanyMinusExtraReborn | everyone |

| Malfunctions | everyone (the host's settings decide what happens) |

| KeepEnemyPower | host only |

| Devious_Traps (optional) | everyone, or nobody |

package. Install this package in a separate profile and switch profiles for hard-mode

nights.

What it feels like

Each landing rolls two to four announced events (shown on screen and in chat): enemy floods of a

particular monster, turret and landmine floods, a scrap transmute, a shipment fee, an early or late ship,

artillery in the exterior, strong enemies, kamikaze bugs, the pack's own Lockers, Rolling Giants, Peepers

and Leaf Boys as events, and the occasional good day. A 0 to 100 difficulty score drives how nasty the

roll is: it rises with days survived, scrap stored on the ship, moon tier, bad weather, revisiting the

same moon, and player count above four. Killing monsters no longer frees up the moon's spawn budget, so

a moon cannot be farmed safe. At most once a day the ship itself fails: silent reroute to a random moon,

teleporter down, comms distortion, door lockdown until 10 PM, lever warning, or a power failure. Each

malfunction is announced except power, and leaving a body behind raises the odds for the next day.

Deliberately switched off: the instant-wipe events (Hell, NutSlayer swarm, ship core failure, reality

shift that turns scrap into traps, very late ship, door circuit failure), the events that override

weather (WeatherRegistry owns it), the eleven ship-failure events that Malfunctions already covers with

warnings, the random-time meltdown, and all beta or special events. The NutSlayer boss is mortal.

Config notes

All settings are shipped; the interesting ones:

  • Loot economy guard: WeatherRegistry keeps control of scrap counts and values, and Brutal Company

multiplies after it. Every Brutal Company weather multiplier, its difficulty scrap drift, and its

randomizer are pinned to 1.0 or off, and event mu

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
