FacelessStalkerFix
Compatibility fix for FacelessStalker (Slenderman mod by Sparble) on modern Lethal Company versions (v50, v55, v60, v68, v73+).
The Issue
In modern Lethal Company updates, multiple base game method signatures were changed:
- GameNetcodeStuff.PlayerControllerB.HasLineOfSightToPosition received an additional int layerMask = -1 parameter (expanded from 4 to 5 arguments).
- GameNetcodeStuff.PlayerControllerB.KillPlayer received an additional bool setOverrideDropItems parameter (expanded from 5 to 6 arguments).
Because SlendermanMod.dll was compiled against older game binaries, calling these methods caused immediate runtime crashes:
[Error: Unity Log] MissingMethodException: Method not found: bool GameNetcodeStuff.PlayerControllerB.HasLineOfSightToPosition(UnityEngine.Vector3,single,int,single)
The Fix
This BepInEx preloader patch dynamically rewrites outdated IL instructions in SlendermanMod.dll at launch or on disk:
- Updates PlayerControllerB.HasLineOfSightToPosition call-sites to pass the modern default layer mask (-1).
- Updates PlayerControllerB.KillPlayer call-sites to pass the modern default parameters.
- Restores full functionality to Slenderman's haunting, line-of-sight tracking, and kill mechanics without modifying original game logic.
Installation
Via Mod Manager (Recommended)
- Install via r2modman or the Mod Manager.
- Launch modded Lethal Company.
Manual Installation
- Ensure BepInEx 5 is installed.
- Place FacelessStalkerFix.dll inside BepInEx/patchers/FacelessStalkerFix.
- Launch the game.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
