Cupboard Wipe Protection
Cupboard Wipe Protection changes the full-crew wipe penalty without removing it entirely.
When every player dies:
- Items stored inside the ship cupboard are kept.
- Scrap and other items left elsewhere on the ship are removed normally.
- Items inside a belt bag stored in the cupboard are kept with the bag.
- Optional value limits decide which cupboard scrap survives.
Two independent value limits are available:
- The per-item limit removes each individual scrap item worth more than the configured amount. It does not restrict the combined value of the other items. This limit is enabled by default at $200.
- The total-value limit restricts the combined value of all protected cupboard scrap. It is disabled by default. When enabled, the mod selects a combination with the highest possible total value without exceeding the configured amount.
The per-item check runs first when both limits are enabled. Items with no scrap value do not consume the total limit. A belt bag and everything inside it are treated as one item group, so the game is never left with references to removed bag contents.
The host decides which items survive. The mod can run on the host alone, but installing it for everyone is recommended for shared modpacks.
Configuration
The mod uses a standard BepInEx configuration file.
- Enabled turns the feature on or off.
- Enable per-item value limit turns the individual scrap-value check on or off.
- Maximum protected value per scrap item sets the highest allowed value of one scrap item.
- Enable total value limit turns the combined cupboard-value limit on or off.
- Maximum total protected scrap value sets the combined value cap used when the total limit is enabled.
- Shelf tolerance adjusts how close an item must be to a cupboard shelf.
- Cabinet bounds padding adjusts the fallback detection margin around the cupboard.
- Verbose logging prints item-by-item detection details for troubleshooting.
The default detection values are intended for the vanilla ship cupboard, including when it has been moved.
Compatibility
Cupboard Wipe Protection does not replace the normal ship item save system. It only prevents cupboard items from being despawned during a full-crew wipe, so mods that preserve exact item positions can continue handling placement normally.
Do not combine it with mods that preserve every ship item after a wipe, because those mods may also keep items left outside the cupboard.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
