About this mod Author’s original text
Crew Shield
Disable direct friendly fire in Lethal Company without making the crew invincible.
Behavior
- Direct teammate shovel, sign, and knife hits routed through the player-hit RPC cause no damage.
- Player-held shotgun blasts cause no damage to other players. Shotgun sounds, ammunition use, and damage to monsters still run normally.
- Nutcrackers and other monsters remain lethal.
- Mines, turrets, falls, drowning, explosions, vehicles, and other environmental hazards retain their normal damage.
- Player-hit interactions continue to run; the mod does not cancel whole weapon attacks.
Indirect griefing remains possible: a teammate can trigger a mine, throw an explosive egg, or drive into someone. Those are hazards and remain lethal. Unheld shotgun accidents and self damage also remain enabled. Custom weapons are covered if they use the standard player-hit RPC; mods that kill players directly or use unrelated damage methods may bypass protection.
Install
Install BepInExPack 5.4.2100 for Lethal Company. Install Crew Shield on every player, including the host, and use the same configuration everywhere. Host-only installation does not cover shotgun damage on unmodified clients. This release does not synchronize config values over the network.
For local testing, use your mod manager's Import local mod option and select CrewShield-1.0.0.zip. If that option is unavailable, open the profile folder and copy the ZIP's BepInEx/plugins/CrewShield directory into the profile's BepInEx/plugins directory. Launch Modded.
For manual BepInEx installations, copy BepInEx/plugins/CrewShield/CrewShield.dll from the ZIP into the same path under your game directory.
Do not install multiple mods that alter friendly fire while testing this one.
Configure
After one launch, edit BepInEx/config/local.crewshield.cfg or use your mod manager's config editor:
[General]
DisableFriendlyFire = true
true disables direct friendly fire (default). false restores it. Restart the game after editing the file. Configure every participant consistently.
Verification and limitations
Compiled against the local Lethal Company installation, Steam build 22825947. The four patched method signatures were checked against that installation. Twelve automated damage-policy cases pass. No live multiplayer playtest has been performed, so treat version 1.0.0 as an initial test release.
Before a full session, test both directions of shovel/knife and shotgun damage with a host and one client. Confirm health stays unchanged, monsters can still be attacked, and a Nutcracker, fall, mine, and turret still cause normal damage. Repeat with the toggle off to confirm teammate damage returns. Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for Crew Shield 1.0.0 loaded and patch errors.
This is a local -format package; it has not been uploaded. Upload under your own team if you choose to publish it. Add your repository or support URL to website_url when available.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
