Note: I recommend the usage of several of the good bug fix mods and quality of life mods when using Brutal, including StarLancerEnemyEscape. It will help make Brutal both more enjoyable and a fun experience. Of course, feel free to play BCMER with any mod! It can make for a fun experience!

Mod Compatibility and Recommended Mods

Compatibility

This section shows a list of mods and how compatible they are with BCMER. This list is not an extensive list of mods that are supported by Brutal, as in the case of modded events, as you can find them here or in the readme under list of modded events. Please note that this list is subject to potential changes as features/changes to BCMER/other mods could break compatibility at any given moment.

The levels of compatibility are color coded to represent the level of compatibility:

🟢 (Compatible) - No known issues. Very minor bugs, if any present at all and will not affect gameplay

🟡 (Mostly Compatible) - Bugs or Issues when present are minor, and, depending on the situation, issues can likely be bypassed or prevented in one way or another via config options.

🟠 (Partial) - Partial compatiblity. Bugs, or issues are present. Some features should work, but things are not fully guaranteed and could potentially cause conflict.

🔴 (Incompatible) - Not compatible for one reason or another. Most likely will result in heavy conflicts, bugs, softlocks or crashes.

🟣 (Planned) - Planned compatibility. Parts of, or completely all of BCMER or/and mod may not work as expected. Potentially no documented behavior on interaction between said mods. Refer to notes for more information.

🔵 (Untested/Unknown) - No data reported between the compatibility level, or at very minimum, surface level testing done, Not all cases are considered. Refer to notes for more information.

| Mod Name | Status | Notes |

|------------|-------------|--------------|

| LethalUtilities | 🟠 (Partial) | Some values are capable of being modified, but BCMER takes over some level spawning properties. |

| Black Mesa Half Life Moon Interior | 🟠 (Partial) | Barnacles and trip mines can not be used as an hazard properly in Custom Events. |

| Brutal Company Minus | 🔴 (Incompatible) | BCMER is built off of BCME, which itself is built off of BCM. Will cause conflicts. |

| Brutal Comapny Minus Extra | 🔴 (Incompatible) | BCMER is built off of BCME Will cause conflicts. |

| SuperEclipse | 🟢 (Compatible) | Provided ShipCoreFailure or LeverFailure is never rolled. BCMER 0.21.9+ prevents these two events from being ran if SuperEclipse is present. |

| GeneralImprovements | 🟡 (Mostly Compatible) | Intro skip feature from GeneralImprovements causes issues with BCMER

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.

Dependencies

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
