L4D2 description

First aid kits, commonly known as medical kits or health kits, are used to treat injuries sustained by survivors during battles. When carried by the Survivor, it acts like a backpack with no visible straps.

First aid kits are vital to survival as they can take a player from an incredibly injured state to a fully recovered state. When a player is in a black and white state (if their health reaches 0, they will be killed), using a first aid kit will restore the player's "chance" and bring them out of this state.

First aid kits can always be found in the safe room and at the end of the event. First aid cabinets can also have health packs, but only in the safe room or at the end. Hard Rain's Hamburger Jar and the safe room leading to the Sugar Factory will always contain two health packs, even if they are open, despite campaign and survivor claims otherwise. Outside the parish in the park (randomly spawned in a Humvee and a Seda trailer at the beginning of the level, and two guaranteed to spawn under a tent near a road alley), they are spawned at the director's whim.
