In the year between "Left 4 Dead" and "Left 4 Dead 2," the development of "Left 4 Dead 2" sometimes went through various tweaks. Just as our L4D2 Beta team has shown off faithful E3 versions of the game on other projects, we wanted to achieve a faithful experience with this pack in an attempt to faithfully recreate the experience of PAX '09.
This pack will be playable on Dark Carnival, specifically the first two levels. That's where PAX gaming happens.
This pack should work in most game modes. However, for the most realistic experience, play Campaign mode on a local server so scripts are enabled.
This pack is not intended for use in any game modes that might significantly alter the base campaign, such as Versus or Survival. Play those games at your own risk.
This does not include any media-related files such as backgrounds, upsell trailers, or loading screens. These can be installed separately.
Install & use Install: Left 4 Dead 2 addon (.vpk)
- Nearly all Left 4 Dead 2 custom content ships as .vpk files: unzip and copy the .vpk into the game's left4dead2/addons folder.
- Create the addons folder if it does not exist; content loads automatically on launch.
- The in-game Addons menu lets you review, enable and disable what is installed.
- A few packs or tools do not follow the .vpk flow — follow the bundled readme.
In multiplayer, the host and players need the same addons installed.
