character switcher

introduce:

This mod is heavily inspired by ion's Vocalizer and it requires no code (this mod was built from scratch). But it has one feature, character switching in the game. The reason this mod exists is because I just want that functionality. So if you want the same features that this plugin offers and more, visit ion’s Vocalizer page.

NOTE: Cannot be used with add-ons (and other add-ons that replace the radial menu)

feature:

Simple! It allows you to change characters in the game using the "rest" feature (also known as idle).

Installation method:

Start L4D2 and wait for the add-on to load.

Check the add-ons menu for add-ons that conflict with this and disable them.

Go to the Options menu and bind the radial menu to any key you want.

Options → Keyboard/Mouse → Edit Keys/Buttons → Communication and change "Character Switcher".

How to use:

Play a game with at least two players.

Use bindings and select "Idle", or enter the pause menu and select "Rest"

Using your binding again, select the character you want to be (must exist and cannot control the player).

You should now be in control of the character!

Note: If you choose something that doesn't meet the requirements, you will be the fifth player to die (this was a bug in L4D2), and you won't be able to do anything until everyone is dead, the level is restarted, or everyone is in the safe room.

How it works:

When idle, you are effectively a spectator, so use the command "jointeam2(character)". We could switch to a different role, like Rochelle or coach.
